I think at least Pogo's set would work all year round really. It's a theme that fits Pyro's stereotype, visual design, and personality very well. It also is a lot less random than some other things that have already been implemented into the game. [sp]Though honestly, I'm guessing your biggest reason for not wanting this (if I remember right), is a fear of clowns. So yeah, I guess if you're lucky Valve might make it a fullmoon/halloween restricted item for respect of coulrophobics.[/sp]
No, I'm completely fine with clowns, just not in a Spytech-themed shooter. I really can't believe you're always preaching about how sacred Pyro's personality is, and then you advocate.. these. You can't use the excuse that it's less random than things that are already in the game. That's Valve's mistake, and it's still borderline ridiculous, possibly even moreso than a birdcage. I mean seriously. A clown. Not even one clown, even. Two different clowns. Both well made, yes, but neither deserves to be in the already tarnished TF2.

I really want more things that will make Pyro scary, and especially pogo's clown set is a prime example of a common scary stereotype very often present in both movies and games. It will cater to both the people like me who likes it as a psycho scary clown, and to the people who enjoy pyro as wacky and weird. So it's a win/win situation.
does anybody know which bone badge items use?
If you saw a clown burn people alive while laughing maniacally, would you invite him to your birthday party?
If you saw a guy with a plunger on his head burn people alive while laughing maniacally, would you invite him to your birthday party?
If you saw a guy with a plunger on his head burn people alive while laughing maniacally, would you invite him to your birthday party?
No, but I might call him if I ever needed some help with my plumbings.
Almost there.
Maybe a small plaque with a name and date? If there's alcohol, the name and date could be like a wine barrel and the founder. If it's an organ (because it's the Medic we're talking about here), it could be the "donor" and the date of death. Or you can just put when it was made and some FP members on it since that seems to be all the rage these days.

If you ask someone to imagine a serial killer typical to movies, they're gonna think along the lines of villains such as Jason Voorhees and the likes. I'd imagine that thinking of a clown as a prime example of a scary stereotype would only happen with a person who's particularly terrified of clowns. Clowns also only really fit Pyro's personality in the surprisingly common case of clowns not being arsonistic murderers when you take Pyroland into account, which is about as unfitting as any clown could possibly be in the game.

I don't like it as a regular clown, I like it as a psycho killer clown, there's plenty of those in fiction. Pyro wears a big baggy full body suit, masks his identity, and kills people while laughing manically, he also has an occasionally childish and wacky personality like most of his taunts.

They've done it with everything else, and you know deep down they'll do it with a god damn clown. [editline]beans[/editline]
Pyro wears a big baggy full body suit, masks his identity, and kills people while laughing manically, he also has an occasionally childish and wacky personality like most of his taunts.
Oh no. Not the wacky personality. This is the one point you always make, that people make items for Pyro that are too random and wacky for his personality of being a completely murderous psychopath. Why does this rule change for something even more in-your-face and ridiculous than anything in-game so far?
does anybody know which bone badge items use?
They use medal_bone. Just decompile an existing badge item and use its bone. Note that the player models that come with sdk do not have the bone.
feels more like L4D than TF2, so yeah I'd say too busy, scale them details up
I'll pass that onto bats then, see how it looks when the amount of blotches is reduced and made larger.

They look like regular clown stuff to me. Like I said before, putting a plunger on Pyro's head does not make it a "scary plunger".

TF2 Emporium 49: (Not-So)Scary Clown Edition
Funnily enough, the losers in this situation are the people like me who don't want to see a god damn clown setting fire to shit in New Mexico.
Eh. It's not as bad as tribal pyromancer's, ghosts, pirates, vikings, medieval knights and lime green aliens from a 90's television show set in the year 3000 fighting in 1950's new mexico.
Oh no. Not the wacky personality. I think it fits him as a psycho killer in a big baggy colorful suit that burns people alive while laughing manically, but it could also fit with the wacky part that everyone else likes.
Better?

Just because you personally don't find it scary doesn't mean a lot of other people doesn't. [editline]23rd September 2012[/editline] Clowns are really more often portrayed as scary rather than normal in media these days. It is really fucking rare to see clowns portrayed as normal sane human beings in movies or games.

The Tyrannus is a small speck that sits atop Pyro's head which I genuinely find it easy to miss at times. It doesn't even give Pyro any kind of unfitting personality, it's just there. Stark contrast to the clown, which gives him far brighter features (and can be painted even brighter), a vastly different shape, extremely noticeable items and a ludicrous boost to the 'WOAH WACKY' personality you've made it so clear that you hate.
There's even a notorious clown serial killer in real life http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Wayne_Gacy

You could tear Pyro's suit and skin off and have him walking around as a hot pink skeleton doused in blood, that'd be scary. That'd be spooky as hell. It still doesn't make it any more fitting to the game in any way, shape or form.
I hate "wacky and random", and I hate "cute crazy". I do not hate "psycho crazy", and "creepy and scary", and "criminally insane".
Try telling me there's something more wacky than a clown. Hot pink clowns and other variations of clowns do not count. Clowns are made to be wacky, to be funny. You know what people do when they find clowns funny? They laugh. They cry laughing. If this gets in-game, Simski, they will cry. Think of the children. Just think. [editline]beans[/editline] Either way, gonna cut this little clowning debate short, surely to all you folks' relief. It's 5:30am and I've been arguing about internet clowns for precisely the past hour. I think I've lost control of my life.

Fear of clowns is extremely common, and it's widely stereotypes on both movies and games. Clowns were created to be funny, but to most people these days, they aren't funny, they're creepy and scary. Years of portraying clowns as this, alongside with that notorious serial killer who dressed up as a clown, has made most people more scared of clowns than amused
They use medal_bone. Just decompile an existing badge item and use its bone. Note that the player models that come with sdk do not have the bone.
I have trouble on multiplayer when I rig an item to medal_bone, so I just rig it to bip_spine_2 which is the parent. It doesn't seem to have any adverse effects.
Finally an issue where I disagree with Simski! Yay! I can sort of see Simski's point; Killer clowns are a horror archetype, and Pyro has the pudgy body and murderous-yet-slightly-childish demeanour to pull it off. However, the killer clown archetype belongs to an outlandish, colorful and kitschy category of horror franchises, which doesn't fit the tone, setting and color palette of (vanilla) TF2 and the Pyro very well. (Vanilla) TF2 is silly and unrealistic, but it's grounded firmly in a down-to-earth working-class aesthetic and the silliness is more or less subtly infused in the details. Killer clowns belong to heavy metal albums and other fundamentally fantastical contexts. Also, the killer clown archetype is really played-out and cliché.
