For the Solemn Vow, well, I disagree. If you're going into a warzone, and your choice of melee weapons is a heavy statue or a bonesaw, they both seem reasonable to me.
The padding actually provides more protection to the user than the person being hit - since the introduction of boxing gloves, head injuries have actually gone up, because then boxers could punch their opponent in the face without having to worry about hurting their hands. They provide an advantage in combat, so it makes as much sense in a warzone as punching people with your bare hands.
Hmm. I guess the Solemn Vow is somewhat conceivable, but I still refuse to accept the KGB. All else aside when was the last time you ever heard off someone rush into war sporting Boxing Gloves?
I'd just prefer it if the really silly weapons weren't in TF2, to be honest.
Yes, debates are healthy, but honestly, I don't see this one going anywhere.
Well I'd have to agree with you there, given what you had just said. Not much point discussing what is best for a game when we have such different ideas of what tone we'd prefer.
I just want the boo balloon and the plutonidome to not be restricted and id be happy.
Brain in a jar is exactly the kind of mad science Engineer or Medic would do in their downtime
Medic maybe, but I don't think Engineer would do that kind of thing.
He's a mad inventor, going as far as sacrificing his own arm his his creations. However, Engineer really doesn't seem to be the type that would do experiments on living creatures and especially not his teammates. That's more Medic's field of interest with his sadistic personality, while being a skilled surgeon and an avid man of science.
[editline]6th November 2012[/editline]
Medic is like a more comical Dr. Frankenstein.
Engineer is like a more insane Dexter from cartoon network.
it could have been one of the manns for all you know. and it could have very easily been the engineer, he built that eternal life machine thing, so why not apply that knowledge to brains and green goo
Perhaps. If it involved no surgical procedures or killing of anything, I would not put it past Engineer. He just really doesn't seem the type that would do the same type of experiments as Medic on people. I could imagine him being able to build a completely functional robot controlled by a brain in a jar, it's how he got the brain that makes me iffy about the whole idea.
[editline]6th November 2012[/editline]
Regardless, there are many hats that make a lot less sense. Even if it wasn't designed by Medic or Engineer, I still enjoy that it fits the whole retro-futuristic advanced technology theme.

I could give it a try if you'd like. Add me on steam and we can discuss it. (I'm still at work, I'll be home in about 5 hours.)
Spark, have you ever considered adding some sort of style to your Plutonidome to make it look better alongside lens items?
In the off chance that Valve does remove the Halloween restriction, this could really be something that would make me appreciate seeing it more often.
I don't necessarily mean that you should add something that looks out of place on the bowl and only looks good when used with lenses, but perhaps something like this worked into the front of the bowl. Just a style that would look good alone, but also would make lenses look less like they're floating in mid-air.

(Mainly their visors, not implying other features like noses or mouths)
It's Valves fault, the lenses shouldn't be equippable with the Hazmat headcase or the Plutonidome.
If possible, Plutinodome should be modded so that, upon being headshoted, the model turns into the broken style and emits the particles from the BONK! Energy drink.
Thus, upon headshot, the glass breaks and green brain juice leaks everywhere
Edit: ok forget it .

Of the tf2 side, at least Spark (sue me) and Laro, from all of Facepunch, go check out the 3D modeling thread in creationism corner.
