Awesome, I really hope I'm right about my speculation of an offense based MvM mode where you play as blu team fighting defensive red team robots.
I think we all do.
i would have some sort of engraving there but that part has such small uv space so it might be hard to make that look good this one actually didn't turn out as bad as i guessed it would though so maybe i can pull it off maybe a cheerleader?
progress on that: wanted some pompoms in there but couldn't find any good ones so
That's some useful information, thanks! Is there some sort of standard zip file template or something to help make their lives easier before they do update the compiler?
Yeah what are the files they only want? cause usually i put the materials and models files, sometimes the smd so i dont know if it's a bit too much on this zip file.
I feel like everything I've already said addresses exactly what you responded with. However I will try to counter once more. It's not at all difficult. You say everything about it is that referenc-
Alright, that's quite enough. As someone who likes ponies, I still also felt that adding pony references to TF2 was unnecessary unless it was really stealthy (Sparkwire's Winter Wrap Up item, for example). I think the model looks cool but yes, it is a pony thing. Nothing we can do about it, according to him, and he apparently has to be forced to download a model with wings. No one is forcing him to do anything he doesn't want to do, but he has a persecution complex or something. Just stop this stupid arguement already because we all know where it's going and it doesn't need to go there. Also I'm pretty sure discussing ponies on Facepunch is now a bannable offense because people keep starting drama since they can't handle the idea of someone liking a TV show they don't like. To all of those who think the model is cool but don't want to use a pony-related mod, relax. I'm going to make an edit of it and upload the non pony version of the in game texture. It'll change the color scheme and make the tuft of hair on the grip a rabbit's foot. I'd also remove the wings, but I don't want to edit the model, and alphaing them out is unreasonable given the circumstances. This isn't going to make any of you happy. Well, too bad. Be happy anyway, because you're getting exactly what you want.
Could have gone to Dundee. It was here or Stafford uni, this one offers a 5 minute walk to the town centre and I've already been here 3 times before. Oh also I heard it off a now third year student valve likes to visit.
Tell me when and I'll visit :F
Well I'm back from the US, and Valve! The tour was awesome, and Robin gave me an extra tour afterwards where I went into the TF2 area and introduced me to the team. He answered quite a few of my questions. Apparently they're just doing the usual for community items, however they're hoping to bring in a newer compiler which'll make it easier to go over workshop items, apparently they don't go through a lot of items because of how terribly submissions are uploaded, they open up zip files and are like, "what the fuck is this mess?", however, this is mainly for cosmetic items only, as weapons require balancing and such, and the TFTeam is tiny in comparison to say... the dota2 team. I also asked about the character animation rigs, and he wasn't sure what they were for, but I think it's for some future character model changes, where animation data can be kept seperate, which will allow them to modify the character models without having to compile the animations onto the player model all the time. eg bodygroups (the team was considering doing bodygroups the way dota2 does them). I asked a ton of other questions, feel free to jog my memory for specifics. edit: And no, I did not ask about fixes.
Did you ask when Ricochet 2 will be released?
Valve working on a new compiler is great news for many of the contributors. However, knowing that this compiler is a ported version of the dota compiler, it worries me as a blender user. The dota compiler breaks blender exported smd's. It may be time to learn maya and/or max and for those contemplating on starting with blender, think carefully of this issue before proceeding.
AyesDyef I posted your tour info on SPUF, hope that's okay
to be specific, bone orientation gets messed up even if you used a decompiled dota hero model.
Just stop this stupid arguement already because we all know where it's going and it doesn't need to go there.
My last post on the subject ended in:
There. I'm officially done. Meaningless and sidetracking subjects like this are why I avoid the rest of Facepunch beyond the Emporium and Source Filmmaker sections. It's also the reason I left the site for about four years after originally joining back in 2005. I wont be responding on this subject from hereon-in. Though understand I have no personal distain towards you regardless of what I say. I'd hate for you to read this and develop some personal grudge against me.
It was never an argument as far as I was concerned, was going nowhere beyond that final message and really didn't need bringing up again. I've never on Facepunch (or anywhere else for that matter) had a bad thing to say to anyone. I like to think I'm a soft/nice person. Most people that know me tend to agree. Though regardless I'm sure those making a big deal out of it will enjoy whatever this new version that you edit will be.
Make it an engraving of the Spy. In a swimming suit.
With the disguise mask!
holy crap at the thought of having 50+ new wiki pages every major update [editline]25th September 2012[/editline] why don't they just make a way for users to submit stats and then randomly add a few of them every week or so to the beta. They could probably make a real easy GUI for clicking and dragging attributes onto weapons, and then they do a quick pass to see if anything is ridiculous, and then adding ones that appeal to them at the surface and then let us vote. Give a polling system or some new section in the workshop and let us vote on beta weapon stats. Stats need to be added. It's what keeps many people interested in the game, and it's very surprising they haven't thought of a way to more easily involve the community in building and testing stats, basically doing their job for them. They could even start accepting sounds with submissions. That would trim off some dev time, and they already do it for Dota.
Imagine if they had the upkeep and numbers of items added in content patches in dota 2 in the regular TF2 bulk patches, Geez. i hope due to this ported exporter the weekly workshop will come back.
I bet when he spoke about me, they shrugged it off right Ayes?
Imagine if they had the upkeep and numbers of items added in content patches in dota 2 in the regular TF2 bulk patches, Geez. i hope due to this ported exporter the weekly workshop will come back.
can you imagine trying to get one item out of 50 fixed though if it had a bug? That's what I'm concerned about. It already takes months to fix bugs with community items (if ever), if we just keep piling on these bugs, they'll just never fully work right. [editline]25th September 2012[/editline] actually, I can see it. The signs were there. In MvM they made a bunch of new item prefabs, which means they can just plug in a name, plug in paint yes/no and a model and it's done. Stuff like grenades, hats, promo hats, hat attachments, badges, etc all are standard now and like 4 lines of schema to implement (versus a dozen or so for a regular item)
2. Did you ask them if they could make the Fire Axe teamcolored (basically everything else in the game that is red because of paint rather than because of blood or other organic materials are team colored blue, including the flaregun, brigade helmet, and exstinguisher on the degreaser)
ughgghghjhhghgfhjfgj
