Every single Pyro out there uses the easiest to pick up loadout. And I'd bet a tenner none of them can play Vanilla Pyro.

Replace Deus Specs with Summer Shades or the Lucky No. 42 or just remove them entirely. Then this would be a good loadout.

Having a quick check on outpost I found some ts essentials for 7 keys pretty easy. More than your average hat sure but I don't think it's a huge amount.
Its not my fault that those items cost that much. Is it ? If something has a value does it mean you cant wear it ? I understand Holiday headcase but this ? Cmon

I think the reason a lot of people use the Axtinguisher is because every single pyro melee unlock is better than stock. The stock flamethrower is okay if you plan to only use that.

I've found that Degreaser is good if you want to basically insta-kill one target and do negligible damage to everything else (ie. Puff n Sting), but Stock is good if you want to do decent damage to everything.
I don't really like to Puff n Sting (even if I use the same sort of airblast/melee combo on occasion, though not with Degreaser and Axetinguisher), so the Stock flamer works like a charm.
Current Pyro Loadouts:
[b]Almost Stock[/b]- Flamethrower, Shotgun, Third Degree. A good, basic setup, it has no definite strengths, but no serious weaknesses either. Works pretty well in just about any situation.
[b]Dapper Apparition[/b]- Backburner, Detonator, Powerjack. My ambush loadout. Use the Detonator to pop into good hiding spots, stop pushes from behind with the Backburner, and corner the occasional Sniper or Spy to feed my Powerjack and get a little health to keep me going.
[b]PyBro[/b]- Flamethrower, Scorch Shot, Homewrecker. Possibly my favorite loadout of all, this one is pure defense. Sacrificing switch speed for afterburn damage means I can light up a Spy, then tend to the Sappers as soon as possible.
[b]Brainslug Victim[/b]- Rainblower, Scorch Shot, Lollichop. More or less interchangable with the first one, this one also works pretty well in most situations.

Why does everyone assume the only reason to use the degreaser is for puff and sting
I use it to quickly switch to shotgun when someone goes out of range of my flame thrower (or when I can get a good meat shot).

Because that's the only way anyone seems to know how to play anymore. It's kind of like how everyone would use nothing but the Equalizer as soldier before the weapon was nerfed; it was like every other soldier melee was unheard of. I use the degreaser mainly because I find it to be more versatile on the battlefield. As far as I'm concerned, it's just the stock flamethrower with an added bonus of faster weapon switch.
