get good and read this http://www.sirlin.net/articles/playing-to-win-part-1.html/
I just read "Playing to win" and felt like throwing up. [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline] Besides, I'm not bad at the game. Thing is though that I don't have to rely on easy to use tactics/loadouts.
I just read "Playing to win" and felt like throwing up.
Well, technically, nobody is playing with the intention of losing.
Well, technically, nobody is playing with the intention of losing.
I play to have fun. I don't care whether I win or lose, as long as it was a fair game. If I lose because of a steamrolling tryhard team, then it was no fun.
I don't like when I play a pub with normal people (not Valve server), and there are 5 pyros on each team with the exact same weapon loadouts. Guess which. In that situation, it's literally more fun to get a stopwatch, invite some friends and compete who survives longer out of spawn.
I don't want to introduce something as silly as "honor" into a discussion about TF2 loadouts, but when I play pyro I bring the axtinguisher only to take care of heavies and medics. Other than that, I feel it's just a bit unfair for the other party that whether or not they die instantly depends on the presence or absence of walls nearby. I don't like ending fights too early and would rather either try to juggle my opponent with the Reserve Shooter (or blast him into space, that's good too) or try and reflect whatever it is they're throwing at be back in their face. Besides, carrying the homewrecker makes you a good pybro. I still can't decide if I like or don't like the Aspect + Pyromancer combo. As far as head replacements go, I think it's (fittingly, I guess) the least noticeable one, but I've never been one for subtlety. I'd go with a Last Breath, but that thing is stupidly overpriced.
I for one like the aspect because it actually kind of makes themes with ghosts [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/prakerapethesequel.png[/t] Last breath looks great but doesn't really set a theme in any way, unless it's with the flamenco
Why? I use the flair more often anyways. There is nothing wrong with using the axtinguisher.
Generally speaking, people who use the Axtinguisher overuse and rely on it. It's a fine weapon, but some people like to forget that they have a secondary (hell, even a primary half the time) and just axtinguish people. I'm not saying you do this, but there's just a sad amount that do. :v:

I don't understand the problem. What does it matter how you kill people if you do it?
Fair play is the problem. Approaching the enemy and giving him no second to react is not really fair.
I don't understand the problem. What does it matter how you kill people if you do it?
Because of the actual "skill" involved. It's just not fun to Axtinguish, imo. I love getting Flamethrower, Shotgun, and Flare Gun kills. I feel like I actually need to corner my target, surprise them, screw with them. With the Axtinguisher, all you need is a second's time to airblast them and axtinguish.
Fair play is the problem. Approaching the enemy and giving him no second to react is not really fair.
Isn't it like the knife, though? If you come from the front then of course they have time to react, and when you come from the back it's a lot like backstabbing someone.
I guess i can post my engiee~
Isn't it like the knife, though? Unlike with the Axtinguisher.
Well, with the knife, should your target turn around, you don't get an instantkill. Unlike with the Axtinguisher.
Nevermind, I never asked about anything ever at all never.
If they don't see you coming as a spy, you get the instakill. But puff'n'sting works like... First you get airblasted (from insane range), and you practically can't control your movement other than airstrafing which isn't effective enough to dodge the melee instakill awaiting you down on the ground.
Bonus points if the Pyro blast you up in the air and unloads a couple of Reserve Shooter bullets into you.
Like that even matters. The only time you'd really need that is if you're up against a Heavy, which is really one of two times that the Axtinguisher is the most viable choice in a given situation.
Woa what blood sprite mod are you using?
http://gamebanana.com/tf2/sprites/3631
An IRL friend gave me some white paint, so I decided to finish up my Apple Sniper, even though I'm a terrible sniper :v: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Dxw5X.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/OcoM5.jpg[/t] Bonus: Sniper's Game Face [t]http://i.imgur.com/WXWQy.jpg[/t] (and yes it was a successful kill taunt. Valve servers are the best.)
[t]http://i.imgur.com/WXWQy.jpg[/t]
WHERE WE'RE GOING, WE WON'T NEED NO LUBE
Fair play is the problem. Approaching the enemy and giving him no second to react is not really fair.
Fairplay isn't real, honestly it seems like you had 1 to many bad experiences and decided the whole thing was cheap.
Fair play is the problem. Approaching the enemy and giving him no second to react is not really fair.
The thing is, if the enemy is unaware enough or his teammates isn't covering flanks and he lets a pyro get that close he deserves to fucking die.
He's still missing the white paint in the outback intellectual
Wonder what those white diamonds are..
Wonder what those white diamonds are..
I think he meant in the pictures Hemaglox posted.
The thing is, if the enemy is unaware enough or his teammates isn't covering flanks and he lets a pyro get that close he deserves to fucking die.
Tell me how a Demoman is supposed to stand against such a Pyro. The pyro can deflect Stickies and Grenades. Leaves the Demoman nochance to do damge from a distance. The Pyro can approach with no problems, set the Demo on fire and kill him in the same second.

Go find an MGE server that allows pyro and go play against a demoman. I guarantee the demoman will 20-5 you if not 20-0 EVERY SINGLE TIME.
