some of my INCOMPLETE loadouts, especially spy and scout,
also looking to either paint something related to zeph's green, cream spirit, gold or orange, still can't decide..
The professor speks are just a cover up for incompleteness and lazyness
How does zeph's green look? Agree if it looks good, disagree if it doesn't, also not rating the hats, just the color in general. Thanks!
(Also I didn't paint my loadout this, this is itemtest
It looks good on the bag but not on the whoope cap.
Another screenshot supplied by one of my friends.

I'm planning on re-doing my Objector with this picture I found on /co/.
It made me laugh too hard to not want to use it.

I think and hope that spray/decal examples aren't bannable for reason "image macro"
I think and hope that spray/decal examples aren't bannable for reason "image macro"
I don't think so, since this is a thread for posting decals...
It should be safe.
Cream spirit is a bit expensive, considering having to repaint ALL of your loadouts, what about gold or orange? Is that good? I honestly don't want to have to repaint my loadouts and then have 40x dumb's for it, I want it to look good and obviously my choice of paint isn't great.
Not trying to be an asshole here, but Gabriel's choice isn't all that great either. Just use subtle paints if you have to(remember, not everything needs to be painted), and avoid the colors that stick out like a sore thumb.

I personally love that colour.
I'll get lots of boxes for posting a picture witha painted Fast Learner, but what the heck:

And more Zephaniah's Greed:

I don't like picking a favorite between colors.
Different items look good with different colors, it's all a matter of context to me.
So I don't have a favorite team color or color in general, because it would inevitably end up looking shit with some sets it simply doesn't make sense on.
It looks good on the bag but not on the whoope cap.
Any suggestions on a specific hat? Whoopee Cap is the only scout hat I have, I could get something like, idk, backwards ballcap, Flipped Tribly? Or the most used scout hat, the troublemaker's tosslecap. If I were to use the fedora my shit would be identical to DaWut's. So yeah.
Oh and thanks for the suggestion on subtle paints, honestly if I see someone running around badlands with lime green everything, it makes me want to puke, but I wasn't sure how subtle to keep the colors, more-so than lime or a lot.
EDIT: Also if people don't like the fast learner painted, any suggestions on miscs for scout? Besides the duffel bag of-course, i'm probably already going to get that.
EDIT again: Messing with spy, how does this look? Once again, itemtest, didn't waste any paint.

I sadly am not too fond of painted beret, it usually ends up looking like something a Legoman would wear.
I sadly am not too fond of painted beret, it usually ends up looking like something a Legoman would wear.
I only like it because it somewhat matches the dark color of the roule, most of the other spy hats turn up being brighter and not matching very well.

I don't think people hate painted fast learner's as much as they just hate fast learner painted only to be used in an obnoxiously colored set, which is the most common reason people paint it.

Does this count as an obnoxious set?
Does this count as an obnoxious set?
In a way, yes. It's not a worst offender since you're at least using the green that looks best with the artstyle, however you still stand out like a sore thumb, and there's no real relation between the shirt and the hat, and the bag outside the coloration. You're using the fast learner the way people feel tired of, as a generic color set item.
Your set could be significantly more pleasant to look out if you painted the items in different colors that complimented each other and used colors that made more sense on the items. Basically, if you made the items look like something that wouldn't be a crime against fashion in real life.

That makes sense. Thanks.
maybe try ye olde rustic colour on your scout stuff instead
it looks incredibly close to the colour of scout's shorts, so it works in the same way operator's overalls matches soldier's trousers
You mean like this?
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/B3ewH.png[/IMG_thumb]
This is my loadout so far, was planning on painting the tossle cap, and the bag zeph's green, but leaving the fast learner, or painting it something like ye olde rustic color, what do you think? (or i could just ditch the fast learner and save me some keys, still unsure.)

Anyone know any other place than TF2 galleries where people upload examples of how items look in game?
The TF2 wiki seems to be down or something (because I can't access it right now), and it usually doesn't show the items with the whole character.
TF2 galleries usually works well, but there are plenty of cosmetics that lacks any examples, and from the times I've tried to upload my own examples I've come to the conclusion that this is probably due to that they have nazi like standards for what type of images will be accepted.
[editline]28th July 2012[/editline]
I was going to go to the wiki to look at what colors could look good on duskard's items.

These are some of the sets I WANT to build, but seeing as I don't have the money/items yet, I built them in SFM to see how they look without wasting money/time.
Comments/suggestions? Should I paint certain hats certain colors?

Dont touch a thing. They look gorgeous. Scout is a little overdone but thank you so much that you aren't using the fast learner.
10/10 would offer sandvich every time.

I don't think you can use painted items in Source Filmmaker without going through some complicated stuff

Is spawning the Essential Accessories on itemtest not working for anybody else?
I don't think you can use painted items in Source Filmmaker without going through some complicated stuff
I think you just need to add basecolor 244124567 or whatever the RGB value of the paint is you want to add to the .VMT.

Misc 2 doesn't work at all on itemtest. At least for me.
I don't think you can use painted items in Source Filmmaker without going through some complicated stuff

You can't paint it officially, but you can download VTFEdit, and then edit the .vmt of the hat/misc you want to paint, look for the basecolor, and change it to respective RGB values which you can get by taking the color codes from here and converting them here.
It's not that complicated, but it'd be better if Valve added an official color changer to SFM
