Guess you're right, but still the current number is still too low. If one heavy encounter can give you crits there's a problem.
I'd like to see someone take down a heavy as easily as you make it seem, the minigun does more damage at flamethrower range than the Phlogistinator does with crits. And to make it worse heavies with crits are six times more annoying than pyros.
lets get topical I appreciate the help, team, but I wanted that tauntkill :v:

I apologized over the mic for stealing his taunt kill, and thanked him for saving my ass, and then we high-fived. Was good day.
Dear Demomen: Please stop doing this. Love, Everyone with a brain.
TF2 stuff that annoys you: Pyro Nerf discussion
TF2 stuff that annoys you: Pyro Nerf discussion
Oh man, you got me in a nutshell. Anyways, playing demopan earlier having some fun with the sticky jumper when I had this amazing Idea to switch out with the eyelander, I would fly over to those pesky snipers in the back and collect a few heads, wait for them to respawn and do it again. I got kicked. For spawn camping, from my spawn. Thats what their reason was, I was boiling mad. Whenever I have fun its always ruined! Every time! Its like a game of keep-away or smear the queer.
Engie in a corner hiding from our Heavy Go to stab him as his back is turned to me He turns towards me at the last second Backpedal two feet and begin to strafe, pegging him with my revolver Hit noise No damage indicator - server thinks I didn't hit him Hit noise No damage indicator - server thinks I didn't hit him Proceeds to smear me against the pavement with his Widowmaker with 34 health left. I've been encountering a string of similar hit-reg incidents lately, and it's pissing me right the fuck off.
A very minuscule thing but here it is. When you go to hit the wall of a map with a melee weapon you, and a bullet hole/dent is made... What is your logic here valve? also it bugs me when I got through a door way/hallway as a cloaked(dead ringer) spy and suddenly the whole team thinks it's great to just rush right through all at once so I end up decloaking in a sea of demo's and pyro's...or even worse right infront of a sentry.
Phlogistinator No Ammo: Instead, an Overheat bar, which prevents you from flaming for 5 seconds after flaming for 8 seconds, and cools down in 2 seconds. This encourages pausing and not just constantly flaming. Mmph bar fills when 300 Damage is done, and once activated, forces Pyro to taunt. The Taunt gives him a 40% Damage reduction, and a ring of fire appears around his feet to indicate it. During and After the taunt, he has the HP Regeneration of a Medic until Mmph runs out. For 3 Seconds, the Flamethrower Crits. For 8 Seconds afterwards, the Flamethrower Minicrits. During the Mmph time, it cannot overheat. [-]No Airblast [-]-10% Damage ]
Do you intend to make it the second Natasha?
I think the Phlog should have the full heal and full crits. It stays true to the idea of an ambushing pyro. I'm not sure how I feel about the 90% damage reduction when you activate Mmph though. On the one hand, you could stop a cap for a few precious seconds by taunting in front of the cart/on the point. On the other, it's a bit much. I say keep everything on the phlog but the 90% damage reduction. That way, it turns into an ambush weapon.

I have no internet on my home pc, so I thought hm, maybe I'll play against bots for a while. Still kinda fun. Right, lets open Steam... click 'Start in offline mode'.... What's that Steam? You can't open in offline mode? Whyever not? 'Steam cannot complete this action in offline mode'

Offline mode doesn't work since forever, what point does it have when you have to be connected to internet to use it?
Dear Demomen: Please stop doing this. Love, Everyone with a brain.
I like to do this as soldier, except I jump straight upward and rain down rockets and then rejoin my medic. It's way easier to hit them from up there. Maybe would work with demo as well, since you can jump higher with two stickies and uber saves you, plus you still have 6 stickies and 4 pills loaded (assuming you prepared for uber).

I can't count how many times I've needed to use its bullet sponge ability to save my team or to destroy a sentry. Whats wrong with 2 seconds of 90% damage reduction? Does anyone know that two heavies can tear through that like its not even there? The point of the damage reduction is to save your ass, it doesn't do anything else. Its the only flamethrower I use without a combo, its my W+m1 lover, and I wouldn't want it any other way. The only flamethrower that can actually kill. Also the taunt is a warning, If I'm standing still you better be moving because I'm gonna crit your ass. If I don't defend my weapons who will?
What melee were you using? Why didn't you cancel the charge earlier if you were using a primary? Were you defending or attacking? Why didn't you assume that it might be a bad idea to get within scattergun range? Perhaps you were unlucky? or do you always chase after scouts that have people trailing behind them?
Skullcutter. I wish I had a replay of what happened. Because actually, it was a mass of people I was charging at (I know, this now sounds like I'm making up this story, but I'm not). It was the Scout who ran into my way and blocked me from charging further. The Pyro came up (he was behind the Scout) and I literally was suddenly dead.
Because literally 1 second to assess and react is fair.
One second isn't an instant, which I tried to explain. Its not really fair but it isn't an instant kill.
One second isn't an instant, which I tried to explain. And an instant kill means pretty much the same as one-shotting.

Slightly longer although it makes barely any difference. I don't like posting this much. I'd just like to say this, the Degreaser is a straight downgrade if you don't use a combo.
What I find most annoying are demomen with splendid screens in corridors, if you don't see them then they kill you instantly (usually) but if you do see them they can't do much. As a pyro I've made it a habit to airblast and shotgun those demomen. As a soldier it's much harder if there's a roof over them but if they get blasted up then their charge stops and they're much easier to deal with. That's what you get for trying to be a close range specialist. Oh look, top of the page. I better find something... Combine that with them just suddenly bumping into you around a corner and you're roally fucked before you can do anything about it. And even if you got out of melee range, they'll just airblast you into a wall, disorientating your aim and making you unable to escape as you're burning and getting axed to death.

I mean, you can charge into an enemy who's right in front if you, and you'll deal bash damage AND have a guaranteed crit. Anyway, here's the post.
Hmm, let's see. So there's a Demo using Skullcutter + Splendid Screen: 85 + 234 = 319 damage. Would kill a Heavy. Eyelander (5 heads taken) + Splendid Screen: 85 + 17x5* + 195 = 365 (the bash itself would already do 170 damage) *Each head increases the damage by 17, up to 5 heads. Ullapool Caber + Splendid Screen: 85 + 105 + 300 = 490 Yeah... splendid indeed.
A heavy can kill you in less than a second, and a splendid screen demoman can one shot you if hes collected a few heads or if he's using the ullapool caber. I was typing mine when DatWut? posted.:v:

And the splendid screen is not meant to give you guaranteed crits at all ranges so it can't be compared to axetinguisher + degreaser Pyro. If he charges far away and uses some other weapon than eyelander then you can either move aside and waste his charge, or if you can, send him in the air and have pretty much the same results and doing damage to him. There are only two classes that are slower than him and they both can make swiss cheese/ tomato sauce out of a demoknight.

One time it's a Splendid Screen Demo, the other time a Heavy, and the third time a Degreaser+Axtinguisher Pyro waiting around a corner. A Scout will look what behind said corner is. 1) Scout looks around corner, finds a Heavy. He retreats before the Heavy can even spin up and do damage. And even if the Heavy is spinning his Minigun, the Scout still has enough time to escape. 2) Scout looks around corner, finds a Demoman with Splendid Screen. The Demoman Charges, the Scout escapes since he's faster. 3) Scout looks around corner, finds a Pyro who starts airblasting the Scout to keep him immobile, between one of the airblasts, the Scout gets set on fire and then not even a second later gets an axe shoved down his arse. The Scout is dead. [editline]16th April 2012[/editline] Also, imagine the same three secnarios, but the Scout uses Bonk! Atomic punch before looking around the corner. Who of those 3 is now most likely to kill the Scout?

Why don't you just move away from degreaser pyros if dodging a speeding demoman is so easy? Heavys spin-up is invalid if there isn't anywhere to run to. And for for petes sake, its impossible for any class to kill the heavy point blank if he's already firing. Demomen can use loch'n load and heavies miniguns can deal quite a bit of damage if he gets a little los Pyros airblast can hold you down long enough that it doesn't really matter if you use the vanilla flamethrower. Why does everyone hate the pyro? He just wants some love, he's not overpowered, you have have to be within melee range to hit someone with the axetuinguisher anyways, if you aren't cautious around corners you're going to die a lot and not just from pyros.
