It bugs me how "American" the Heavy's hats tend to be.

Um... I always thought that Brass Beast is the worst minigun...

How do you have nearly 2k hours and say something like this.

All the other miniguns aside from the stock are pretty bad.
They need a little buff, just a little.
It makes me upset that the botkiller weapons dont have each of the classes heads for their specific weapon. Except i imagine engineer would still have a heavy head on his wrench.

brassbeast is fine
It requires timing.

On MvM it's useful but in regular gameplay it's considered one of the worst.

They should have it so you can change the head on the weapon like how you can change the styles of things like the Fast Learner or Bird Man of Aberdeen.

I know, but the post he quoted is about MvM.
How do you have nearly 2k hours and say something like this.
No, it really is the worst minigun.
Even in the most defensive scenario, sasha will do better simply because of the mobility. You can follow people around corners, which means more time spent shooting at them = more damage.
With stock you can also simply move toward your target, increasing your ramp-up damage, while the brassbeast's movement penatly sticks you in one spot.
You are also ridiculously vulnerable to explosives and corners. You are a terrible pocket aswell.
The only real benefit to the BB is countering enemy heavies, but even then if you run into one too early or too late you still lose.
And finally, no you are not a "human sentry". I've seen people compare the beast to a sentry and it annoys me greatly. Damage fall-off, innaccuray, human error, crits vulnerability, awareness are all extreme factors that do not even remotely compare to a perfect aimbot-operated AI.
That said, I use it all the time because it's the most fun and it's okay in MvM.
I know it's the worst minigun, no denying that. But the post he quoted was about MvM. And in MvM it's pretty good.
oh.

Minigun is the best anywhere.
Brass beast is asking for being hit right away, good luck trying to run away from giants when the uber canteen runs out.

Yes.

In case you're wondering why this took so long, it's because I'm using a really old computer (Windows XP in bottom-left corner) with no keyboard, because my laptop charger ees dead. I'm using the on-screen keyboard, which is slow, difficult and incredibly frustrating to use.
I really can't say the brass beast is the worst minigun. It's situational and relies on the wearer being an ambush Heavy more than an offensive or defensive one. To use it right you need to get the jump on your enemy while being at a close range and without them having seen you. This way, they find it harder to locate and kill you during your spinup.
It effectively turns Heavy into the Spy with similar balances. Because of the brass beast's distinct spinup noise, any enemy that hears it will know they're about to be ripped to shreds and will act accordingly to prevent this, ie. run away, shoot Heavy, shoot self. This acts in the same way that the Spy's decloak noises worse for each of his various spywatches, and the time it takes for him to decloak and reveal himself for the kill is comparable to the spinup time for the beast, and both require the user to time themselves carefully and openly expose themselves, with Heavy's slower move speed making him an easier target and a faster kill, equivalent to the exposed Spy.
Using the full Hibernating Bear set really finishes this, as the buffalo steak sandwich gives him the move speed akin to the Spy's at the cost of dying as fast, similarly to the brass beast simulating his decloak and kill, and the bear fists cut his health down at the cost of doing huge damage up close for when he's out of bullets and his shotgun was dethroned by an uncooked steak, pretty much exactly fitting Spy's playstyle, save for the steak.

How is this all worth it to kill people 0.2 seconds faster (after spin-up)?
Sasha can do this just as well.
BB should have a silent or near silent spin sound. Camping heavy ambush?

It shouldn't have a silent spinup since that's what makes it balanced. The Spy has his warning that you're about to get a slight notch in your spine in his decloak noise, and it gives the victim time to react. This is also how the brass beast works, as you need the alert noise before you get killed in two seconds tops, just Heavy's alert noise is able to be louder since he's got more health than the Spy, so he can survive a counter attack.

Brass Beast is a "I'M STANDING RIGHT HERE AND I DARE YOU TO COME OUT; I'M HOLDING A SCRAPMETAL CHANDELIER WHICH EMITS INSTANT DEATH INSTEAD OF LIGHT"-style weapon.

This works.
The downsides for the brass beast are incredibly devastating unless you plan on camping, which is probably what it was meant for. The tiny baby size damage increase is actually kinda negligible. Honestly, this brass piece of crap needs a buff.
A message to engineers playing on Mannworks (and other mvm maps) :

Why the fuck would I put my sentry in a spot that:
1) Can easily get me killed.
2) Can easily get my sentry killed.
3) Is not a vantage point.
4) A place where my dispenser is vulnerable AND (because my dispenser won't be at the other vantage point) doesn't allow me to heal or give ammo to the heavy that usually sits there.

Because then you have a Sentry helping out the front lines (which is always helpful) where's it needed immediately at the start of a wave, which most MVM players would consider a helpful Engineer.
And c'mon, there's plenty of vantage points and place a dispenser where the team needs it.
Though I haven't played a full Mannworks match even on Boot Camp mode, I have played enough to know that even if it might get overwhelmed quickly and you need to rebuild closer to the bomb site, you still should be helping everyone initially by providing support with a big turret that has unlimited ammo and firepower if it's constantly maintained properly.
It irks me how Heavy's minigun windup time seems to be so much faster these days, its nearly irrelevant.
Long time ago, finding a lone heavy and 1 v 1ing him was a like a boss battle, with you carefully planning your moves and flanking him, but now its just run like fucking hell then get mowed down through a wall half a second later

The sentry is already close enough to the point where it is helping the frontlines without putting itself in immediate danger. If the sentry is destroyed (which it sure as hell will be from demomen/soldiers) it leaves you vulnerable which means you'll die as well. Now you have to rebuild your sentry, wasting time that could be used killing bots.

But if it's going to be destroyed anyway (and you've got an instant build canteen or three, which you SHOULD), then it doesn't matter anyway. Put it at the front, and move it back only when the bomb is more than halfway to the hatch. Otherwise there is no point whatsoever having it back there.
It's like Engineers who anticipate to be rolled and just build their stuff at their last point in 5CP, and from there they just wait... That's something else I hate, by the way.

What canteens, if any, do you buy?
Instabuild ones are super cheap, they don't chew much into your upgrade reserves.

Two ways teleport, insta build canteen, + dispenser range.
You have no excuse.

Ah, my personal tr_airshot alternative of choice.
And on topic, I hate when your team fails to push through the enemy defense ONCE or twice, and then just go "lol why try anymore teams are stacked XD" and go le epic random friendly hoovy/spycrab while spamming scramble votes the rest of the round.
Yeah giving up will really help us win, asshats.
brassbeast is fine

I personally wonder if it like the rocket launcher, is a weapon that shines when you have the high grounds. For example standing on top of the containers in the middle area of Granary, there you will have a good overview of anyone running out and more damage to take out enemies at long range, and your lowered mobility becomes less of an issue since having the high ground makes you harder to hit.
This is just a theory though, could anyone confirm if my suspicion is correct or if I overlooked some vital flaw?
