I would be lost without my Gunboats, I love them to shreds.
It gives me the comfortability to rocket jump around maps, getting to areas faster and generally roam around without needing to rely on a pocket Medic.
Like Payload maps or Capture Point maps, while my teammates are securing a point, I can jump away and kill that Engie preparing a nest.
I use it with the Mangler because you'll never be left with only your melee, the reduced overall damage means even lower rocketjump self-damage, you can jump four times and still have a shot loaded, AND it gives you a great way to position yourself for that change shot. I use either the Mangler and Gunboats or the Original and Bison, but never both at once. They don't synergize well, strangely...
Seriously, give it a try sometime. I prefer it over the rocket jumper in all cases except MvM. That fifth rocket jump sells it.

I did try it a little while back, and you're right, that extra rocket is just so fantastic.
I just can't deal with the reload time, which isn't even that bad, not to mention the buildings thing and insta-kill reflections.
Speaking of the gunboats, it's just plain dangerous to use them too much. You'll get far too used to the low damage rocket jumps and blow yourself up / get to where you want to get with far too little health :v:

This is true, I have killed myself far too many times without them, thinking I can make a gap, jump off a wall etc.
For me, the Gunboats are one of those things where I forget they even exist, since I almost never see anyone use it, and I don't rocket jump enough to the point where using them would make a difference.
I think this tactic (before it was patched) more than justified them.

Holy shit

I rocket jump A LOT, but never need a pocket Medic to survive using the shotgun.
Holy shit
That's nothing. Watch how well it works in an actual match.

I usually kill myself in around 3 RJs without the boats.
I usually let others take health kits (unless I actually need it you fucking Scout) because I have the mobility and power to handle myself.

Just gotta get the hang of it. I was unemployed for an entire year back in 2010, so I had a lot of TF2 time to practice.
It's nice to see that other people are considerate of health kits too though!

It doesn't help that I sort of wear Gunboats for their cosmetic looks, but I'll go to shotty eventually.

Speaking of health kits, I hate how some maps have the kits and ammo packed too closely together. I'm trying to grab some ammo for my gun and I accidentally steal the kit my Medic needs so he proceeds to die a horrible death.

1.3 keys for this
why
I really wish Valve would accept more fixes from the workshop.
The HazMat with fixed colors and paints looks fucking awesome, and the updated Bonk Boy model with corrected shading and paintability is godlike.
How certain taunt kills are associated to only one weapon, like Execution.
TF2R is starting to bug me, so many people making troll raffles.
Especially Reag.
My standard go-to loadout (outside of MvM) for the Soldier is my S. Black Box with the 'Boats and the Escape Plan.
Don't know why. That loadout can get pretty hairy if I jump into a tense firefight.
Oh, and I also never go Demoman without this:

It annoys me how many shield Demos I see around, to be honest. The stickies are far too valuable to me to give up willingly.
The fact that the damn total war promos havent been distributed yet.

I am trying as hard as I can to understand why he thinks you're a scammer but I just can't do it :v:

what he do throw buds in?
what he do throw buds in?
No. As soon as I got the keys I traded them for buds.
I like how he called me a scammer and wouldn't explain why though, he probably thought it'd scare me or something.

As a full time bazooka soldier and enthusiast I can disprove your statement.
It has never been patched and, hopefully, never will be.

The thing that was patched about it was about being able to hold the secondary attack button to stop the reloading, so you could basically fire when you wanted with 3 rockets in the chamber.
That video doesn't use the (defunct) exploit though (you'd notice a much longer pause during reloads in the video if the guy used it) so I don't know what else he is refering to.
But stickies ARE the Demo's secondary.
Their meant to be used as a means of support, defense, and area denial, not his primary source of damage, that job would fall to the grenades.
Thats actually one of the best descriptions of the grenade launcher I've ever heard
It just doesn't make sense to use the grenade launcher as a primary, the damage output is so much lower. It's got half the clip size, less range, weird travel arc, high damage only on direct hits, can't damage multiple opponents nearly as effectively, and no trapping aspect. Trying to use the grenade launcher as a primary basically turns you into a Soldier with less health, who can't rocket jump, that has a primary that is much much harder to land consistent hits with.
Out of curiosity I decided to compare your stats, as a grenade focused Demo, to my own, as a sticky focused one. We're even or close in almost all the categories, except damage. Your most damage was 3,702. Mine was 5,285. It's not definitive proof, but I do think it does help drive my argument home
The fact that no-one uses the Scottish Resistance, preferring sticky-spamming. It's such a good weapon, ten time better than the default. It's area denial ability is invaluable, far more so than just brain-dead chucking stickies everywhere like it's the height of fashion.
"Brain dead chucking stickies everywhere" is area denial. Constantly throwing explosions in the enemy's face is a serious deterrent, more so than planting a trap and waiting/hoping for them to walk into it.

Who in their right god damn mind would think these are good names

I get your point but my personal playstyle drives me to play Demoman in a more defensive manner on Defense. Sure, I could make the enemy team eat my stickies all the day and being a huge harrasment to my enemies but I prefer to wait them to walk into my traps, just to feel a little bit safe and sound. That's why I use the ScoRes, the Sticky Launcher is obviously for a more aggressive Demoman.
