Which is shit in my opinion. I for one prefer non-crit servers. And yet I have a weapon that is relying in random crits.
To be fair, TF2 and the weapons made for it aren't designed for non-crit servers.
Joined a server. Teams were stacked. The professionals on the opposite team donning hideous lime green unusuals denied as such. Steamrolled. Good game guys, now go join an actual tournament and see how far your sad pubstomping skills gets you.
I think the arrows overcomplicate it, but basically you try to use your secret tele to surround the enemy and instead it allows the other team to overwhelm individuals and thin out the team.
Can anyone recommend some servers where the players generally suck less ass but aren't quite so good they'd wipe the floor with you if you aren't a competitive player?

I want a so-called server that you described as well. I'm above pub level (at least I think I am), but I don't stand a chance against people who go full fledged career[class] on me, without proper backup. (Which is pretty fucking bullshit considering they always attack me when there is no help in sight)
Feel free to try out my regular server at 95.211.17.204:27015. Just be careful when StalowyMis joins, he'll obliterate you as Heavy. Also, don't expect your Sentry to protect your intel against Scouts, quite a few know how to corner properly. Some admins love playing angry lines like "you little cunt!.wav" without being serious about it (for example when you dominate them), normally you should just expect some classic rock/pop/disco songs tho. When you spot a couple of [GFL]-tagged people, you should be in for a fun time. Every single comic I post in the "stuff you love" thread is based on something that happened on this server, so yeah. Fills around the evening hours and randomly/after Steam Group announcements on weekends, standard Valve rotation plus custom maps, including occasional melee maps.
It's still suprise me why people with unusuals, really expensive items come to public servers. "Oh I am so 1337 for killing them."
"I sure love having zero medics on our team. If nobody else will do it, I will" *Suddenly half the team switches to medic, and people are bickering about who switched first and who has the right to be medic*
Yeah, this is one part of the game that still suffers from ping. Spy backstabs you while he's midair in front of you from your point of view, so it's better to backpedal before he jumps. Spy will assume you're still following him, even when you're already far behind, and jump anyway. Then you just let him land in front of you and rape him. Just keep in mind that you need to act a bit sooner than it seems.
I have a special way of dealing with both intelligent pyros and spies who think they can get me, As pyro I pretend to walk right into their trap but all I do is stand at the base of the stairs within flamethrower range, on the other end as spy, who thinks an enemy engie is going to stairstab them? But I'm still a constant victim of heavies when I'm a pyro, I mean seriously how much skill does it take to just hold W+m1 for a heavy? they kill me faster than I can blink and can wipe the floor of an entire team if they get crits. Don't even get me started on how annoyed I get when I get killed by a demoman, Hes a goddamn defensive class using a defensive weapon on OFFENSE and its still more effective than a defensive class at defense.
"I sure love having zero medics on our team." *Suddenly nobody switches to Medic*
ftfy
It's still suprise me why people with unusuals, really expensive items come to public servers. "Oh I am so 1337 for killing them."
A fancy hat doesn't infer anything about their level of skill It's not like you get an unusual and then instantly turn pro you know

Fuckhead Friend Invites V3

Hmm, see, I think I know what's wrong with this guy. You were just contacted by the yakuza.
THE BOMB ATACKER: sho all your wapon
He clearly has mistaken you for sho.
THE BOMB ATACKER: streng sckretter gun
He wants you to sell him a strong sckretter gun, now I googled this and found out that the man behind this was none other than Tim Schretter. So yeah, it looks like you inadvertently got involved with experimental electronic gun attachment traffic. This is very unfortunate as the yakuza will probably have your head on a stick by the end of the week.
When I'm a scout in 2fort and I see a friendly heavy or soldier with the intel and he refuses to drop it.
When I'm a scout in 2fort and I see a friendly heavy or soldier with the intel and he refuses to drop it.
I'll acknowledge, I am guilty of this, as I undbinded "l" long ago, mostly due to rarely playing ctf.
Soldiers/Demos jumping forward and stealing 200 metal ammo cases when all they used was ONE rocket/sticky. I really appreciate those players who, when they need the health, take just the health and are careful to leave the ammo alone. I understand that the health and ammo are usually very close by (and a lot of times, they just walk into it), but those players that go the extra mile and make sure not to take the ammo when they don't need it have a special place in my heart.
I believe we started discussing Pyro loadouts in the first place because it got brought up that Degreaser/Axetinguisher is a bullshit combo. Also I am saddened to see less Pyros using the Backscratcher. When there is no Medic on your team, which is often, it is a straight upgrade. The higher damage is great, the healthpack bonus really helps (132 for a Medium healthpack, holy shit), and doesn't rely on you getting a kill to heal yourself. Plus Mr. Royzo made it.
I have several underwater kills thanks solely to the backscratcher, I'd be dead with anything else. It's great for stuff like that. "Oh crap pyro, good thing I'm near some water" THINK AGAIN
I have several underwater kills thanks solely to the backscratcher, I'd be dead with anything else. It's great for stuff like that.
When I'm a scout in 2fort and I see a friendly heavy or soldier with the intel and he refuses to drop it.
Everytime I do this, the idiot doesn't even see it and keeps running the other direction.
A fancy hat doesn't infer anything about their level of skill It's not like you get an unusual and then instantly turn pro you know
Ups, my bad. I was thinking like that because often I saw someone on top of scoreboard and had like Unusual Team Captain or that Summer Scout set. But still people that come to server just to pubstomp it or grab a friend who will pocket him is stupid.
When I'm a scout in 2fort and I see a friendly heavy or soldier with the intel and he refuses to drop it.
Well there's your problem Most CTF maps are completely bull crap anyways. 5 control point master race. [editline]6th April 2012[/editline]
A fancy hat doesn't infer anything about their level of skill It's not like you get an unusual and then instantly turn pro you know
Well most of the time, if someone has an unusual means they have been playing for quite some time. And in most cases: More time = More skill. Doesnt apply if you only play 24/7 2fort servers or 24/7 dustbowl, there are a lot of other maps out there.
It's still suprise me why people with unusuals, really expensive items come to public servers. "Oh I am so 1337 for killing them."
What? So you're saying that people who have expensive items aren't entitled to entering public servers anymore? What kind of logic is that? Or are you saying people with expensive items have an insanely high skill that it's unfair if they play the game against pubbies? You're making no sense. I was thinking about all these players that are really good at the game (aka. UGC Highlander level) playing on public server. And what I meant about expensive items was that I always see them on killcam on a player that should be playing UGC tournaments instead of public server for people who are bad at TF2 (like me).

It's just that the wording in your post was talking about the items and didn't mention the skill level, made it easy to misinterpret.
i hate it when people say the phlog is OP it is actually a much worse weapon compared to things such as the backburner or degreaser it does less damage for one in order to activate mooph, you have to basically kill two heavies' and the lack of airblast is crippling, especially without the manmelter to extinguish medics and people
What are you talking about? It requires 225 damage, that's not even one Heavy.
I think its 221, but everything else he said is valid IMO. And killing one heavy is hard if you don't catch them by surprise.

4hp barely makes a difference.
Afterburn.
