This is the same kind of awesome as the Sniper vs. Spy update!
I'm just saying, usually engine updates make tf2 run shittier, over a month of these 'optimizations' people are still getting shit framerates
i've always gotten shit framerate, there is no reason for that to change suddenly with one update and it's probably not healthy for you to expect them to do something like that every time
maybe my mac wont crash every map load now, don't even know why it started doing that. doesn't matter, screen fucked up while looking at porn
So did they make it so that it takes me less than 20 minutes to connect to a server?
So did they make it so that it takes me less than 20 minutes to connect to a server?
I had this, some time last install. Granted there was a several month period in between the last time I played and when I reinstalled, once I did that was gone.
I would like to see an update that actually optimizes the engine for better performance.
I'm sure they'll get to it next time. Get over yourself, seriously.
People, i recommend you check stuff like: -Programs running in the background -Status of Video Drivers -Viruses -Game Fragmentation BEFORE you blame an update for a loss of framerate.
Anywho, since this update, my FPS is really really shitty. It went from 70 FPS stable to 20ish. :frown:

Apart from the FPS problems (which I'm not having for whatever reason), they also seem to have fixed the background rotation; mine now rotates when it didn't before.
I got the Halloween music again the other day though.
Does this fix tr_walkway?! :toot: [editline]11th November 2010[/editline] No it doesn't.... :smith:
The left 4 dead engine looks and runs better and there is definitely more models/textures/buildings, it's not like its impossible or anything.
They're also two completely different games and the max players a L4D game can (traditionally) support is 8. It's not easy to simply "optimize" a game. It takes a lot of work. And considering TF2 is basically on the backburner as far as Valve's project's are concerned, bitching to Valve to "optimize" their game is like telling a chef to go back and cook the dish that you've been eating for the last 40 minutes a little more. Sure the chef has been periodically throwing a few extra ingredients on top of the dish every 10 minutes or so, making it less palatable, but as far as he's concerned the dish is cooked and done and he can't do anything more for it.

This is unexplainable with those methods. It is the game itself. I'm pretty sure it specifically relates to levels of detail being abandoned on new unlocks, several extremely high poly models(I'm looking at you, Direct Hit), and a serious amount of particles on screen.
