You've got nothing on me, I've played the first 2 games through 6 times each with all the character classes just because I wanted to see how the different combat philosophies play out and I'm finishing my 3rd run on ME3 as Vanguard.
Oh, and I've got a 7th playthrough character, a Sentinel waiting in ME1 so there.
I say you give it a try. Rent the first one if you feel like playing an RPG space opera.
It has 6 character classes, or in-universe term "Military specializations".
Soldier takes most damage and deals most damage with guns at the cost of lack of useful talents like Overload (Neutralizes shields) or Throw (a supernatural shove).
Adept is the expert at maimig opponents without even drawing his gun, able to tackle enemies with biotics (imagine The Force, if you will, but accessible in several ways) at the expense of any proper weapons or armor training.
Engineer is the baster of debuffing, able to drain armor and shields as well as weakening defenses, but just like Adept, squishy and not good with guns.
Vanguard, the fan favorite, likes to charge enemies with a shotgun and offensive biotics to wreak havok in the midst of a group of enemies, risking personal safety for super ferocious hit-and-run attacks.
Infiltrator is basically a sniper that first strips an opponent of its defenses and then puts on e between their eyes with a high powere sniper rifle. He sucks at close quarters though, so keep yourself out of harm's way.
My favourite, Sentinel, is a cross of Adept and AEngineer, getting the abilities from both that help him support his teammates, sacrificing weapon efficiency for greater multitasking capability.
I'd say in the first game Soldier kind of dominates, since in the first one, Biotics and tech are a lot less useful.
Out of the first though, Soldier becomes a joke. In 2 and 3, Soldier's not worth half as much as a Sentinel.
Sentinel becomes the best in the series for the last 2.

Hell yeah, can't beat that Tech Armor that gets 200% shields (ME2) and 40% Damage protection fully upgraded (ME3).
I dont like mass effect at all.
Dunno is kinda boring for me.
In 2 soldier only becomes good for when you want to use heavy weapons.
But that's rendered pointless due to modding.

All classes can use heavy weapons.
Where Soldier outclasses the other 5, in 2 at least is this

This rifle shreds through anything at an insane pace, and also it's rounds seem to be .500 caliber or soemthing because this thing is shooting fucking anti-tank rounds or something amazing.
No powers, but Assault Rifles made up for a lot.
I hated how in 3 all classes could use everything, it made Soldier's downright useless.

Understandable, your attention span is tested when there are so many instances where you have to choose what to let out of your mouth and you don't even have a clue what is going on.

Oh yeah.
Had the game modded so long I forgot.
G'night Calle.

I will admit there are times in the first one where you'll ask a question and the character will give you a brief history of time, but it's all done to flesh out the world and it seriously works
You're depriving yourself if you don't play the mass effects.
Mass Effect 3 while I still love, very, very, very much, Mass Effect 3 has a few things that kinda irks me more than the others.
That being said, it's still fantastic and it gets FAR too much shit.
Gotta admit though.

Stay back, your snake powers doesn't work with Spies, since we are naturally snakes. If you don't want troubles go to play with your tail.

Not a Cave Story avatar... disappointing... but in the other side Charizard is a dragon, so I forgive you.
