I've had 2 vintage bills, normal bill's, the sam and max set, 2 earbuds, the beachtowel and the halloween skull and tophat traded for way less then the proper price.
I win the game.
EDIT: Mind you, I've also generated a few hundred dollars worth of earbuds. I logged onto people's accounts and got them earbuds when they were being given out; I must've helped around 30 people, at least. Then I did it again when they started dropping again.
I spent an entire weekend doing this.
Go ask people on Minus World if they remember this; MW is a forum that followed MFGG, where most of the people I got earbuds for came from.
Bought the game for the 360 when it came out, then around 2009 I bought it for PC. Played it for a bit and then forgot about it. Fast forward to late 2010 and I start playing again. Get a crate and unbox it and find an unusual Dapper Topper. Some guy trades me and says he'll give me a Milkman, Fez, and gold Ye Olde Baker Boy. I was happy until a year later when I found out how much it was worth.
Bought a giftable copy of Dead Island for my friend's birthday with Bills + Gen. Planeswalker Goggles + L4D GOTY, week or so later his game got revoked because that asshole I traded with bought it with inactive credit card or something. There was a happy ending I guess cause Steam support restored my stuff, too bad I disappointed my friend in the process.

What makes it even worse is that I spent a good $1,900 on my friends.
I'll first list the being ripped off:
Trading bills for potato around portal 2's release.
Trading earbuds for potato + spartan with someone I taught how to use backpack scanners earlier.
Trading vintage hats for strange as I didn't want to bargain or go spend time trading
I was scammed:
Bought used dead island key for $7 worth of games, found in google search
Tried to sell Bills+garry'smod for $15, guy didn't pay
Tried to sell dota 2 for $20, didn't pay.
Bought 3 dead island keys for buds got deactivated later on
Bought around 50 dead island keys, all of them got deactivated and I've been giving refunds.
Bought 3 dead island keys for 2 CSS gifts.
Failed scams by people on me:
Guy impersonating rob attempting to buy my 2 bills hats for sale on sourceop, linked to rep page of the real sop admin.

When I first joined TF2 it was approaching the first Christmas update. My friend gave me a Vintage Frenchman's Beret. When the update was released I traded the Beret for a Candy Cane.
It still haunts me.
mine was my own fault, i showed my only decent priced hats at the time, (a year ago) and the guy wanted one of the hats, so i accepted the trade.... and forgot to remove all of my hats that i had been trading for for the last few weeks, to trade for better stuff.... instantly after, i recieved that full body shock of complete and total embarrasment, fear, confusion, irritation, and sadness.... he said he would give them back.... in the server chat... then proceded to fake a steam crash by goiing offline for a few hours, unlucky for him i installed a browser that refreshed every 5 seconds, and stalked him for the better part of a week, and joined ANY server he was in... steam support didnt help... needless to say, my entire weeks worth of work in tf2 stock was gone.... forever....
Bit late but:
On trade server, derping around as spy. Guy is selling Bills hat, someone goes and takes it from him for a spacechem pin and a gen. companion cube pin.

Trade him to tell him it wasn't worth it. Long story short, I scammed him out of buds.
Sold him 4 strange weps (cancer ones) for buds.
Feel like shit (and happy).
Give him rest of my cancer bp as well.
He swears at me after trade saying he scammed the fuck out of me, leaves.

sold buds for a storebought Crossbow and a key because at the time buds were 10ish dollars and the Crusaders was 7.49$.
But he was a nice guy and it was what I asked for, so I can't say its anyone's fault but mine. Plus I was one of the priveleged few to have the Crossbow on release day.

a scammer offering me a scammed hat. i asked the guy who got scammed and he told me that that guy sent him a paypal invoice over 450$ and he didnt know how paypal worked so he thought that it was a payment. so he lost 450$+his burning flames nanobalaclava. he charged the money back but still had to pay fees. pretty sickening
Not really a scam but a while back I had some luck finding some hats (Dead Cone, Hotrod, etc.) but I didn't really care about them at the time or stopped to think about how lucky I was to find even a single hat. Almost right after finding them I would try to sell them for metal. In the end I would end up with some metal (I guess I had a metal fetish or w/e back then :v:) but now that I think about it, I should of kept my hats.
Had a BMOC like the first couple of days it was out. Was told it was worth 1.5 buds. Put it up for trade on various trading websites. Didn't get a response for a week or so and it was a Genuine Sharp Dresser, wasn't worth any more than that. People called me a scammer. Figured I could still try for a Bill's. People still called me a scammer. Finally I gave up and traded it for an Outback Intellectual. People kept telling me left and right I shouldn't do it but I did it anyway. About 5 seconds later (after trading it) I got an offer for an Earbuds.
Gave away my buds and bills for Fancy Fedora, Sargent's Drill Cap and Old Guadalajara. I didn't mind though.
Got scammed by a guy selling me gmod, he said it wasn't tradeable only giftable. lost 4 keys

Happened to me too because the in game trading didnt show if an item was craftable or noncraftable.
Two of the worst scams in tf2 history probably lies in my hands.
Sold my Harvest ballcap (30 buds wtf) for a Scorching Berliners and an Earbud (5-6 buds total).
Also sold my Blizzardy Bubble Pipe for a S.Degreaser and a key and some other stranges.
Reason for ballcap: didn't have a price, didnt know that ballcap was high-tier and the effect was high-tier
Reason for bubble-pipe: Unboxed it on first week upon playing tf2
