Hah, I've only been scammed once. It was just when stranges came out, and I'm a huge spy player so I opened two boxes with the new spy stranges (they were new at the time) What do I get? Two strange ambassadors. "Not bad" I think to myself, but really I had wanted a strange knife as well. So I figure I can go to a trading server and 1:1 amby for a strange knife. A guy trades me, saying he has one. He puts it in, I put mine in, we trade. I go to my loadouts screen and to my utter surprise there is not a strange knife but a renamed regular knife. This was while strange weapons had that odd yellowish color, before they were orange. I was so sad, but I had no idea how to go about getting it back so I just kinda dropped it and left. I recently gave my old strange amby to a friend so he could use it as sweets for a S F Amby.
Anyway, I'm sad now. :c
I honestly cannot recall if I've ever been scammed or sharked out of anything in my entire TF2 career.

What I can share is that someone was going to trade a Strange Machina for a Strange Sydney Sleeper on some random Valve server. Told the person that it would be a really shitty trade, so that was my good deed of that day.

I canceled the trade.
not my story since mine is boring, also not technically a scam
my friend who got the sam and max promo items said on more than one occassion that as soon as trading came out he would 'sell that shitty hat for the first offer I get', also referring to it as 'the worst hat in team fortress 2'
and that is exactly what he did, 3 weapons
to this day, he stands by that trade

When trading first came out, I thought normal craftable hats were the shit. I traded my buds for one normal craftable hat, Bills for three and lumbricus for one
