I feel unique. My account was disabled over a trading debacle.

it's on their blog :V
They really don't even care.
First week of trading, I gave a guy 4 crates for his Stainless Pot. He opened all of them, re-traded me 2 minutes later and he demanded that I give him his hat back. He had opened all of the crates and had gotten 2 equalizers, a can of paint, and a gunslinger. He put the items up there and cued the trade. I told him that wasn't in the terms of the trade, and he told me he was "reporting me for scamming."
2 days later my account gets disabled.
3 days after sending in the ticket for THAT event, my account gets re-enabled, the person who files the false ticket gets no punishment.
A week later, I get scammed by a user who switched his unusual for a regular version at the last second. The same user has had a minimum of 3 tickets for the exact same scam filed on him by different players, yet he's still playing TF2.
5 days after sending in a ticket, no response.
I lost respect for Valve in all honesty. Feel free to dumb me or whatever but this update is too much. Trading is great, micro-transactions though?
This is not the Valve I know. I see where it's smart for an economic reason on their part though. Good luck on your account mate. Sucks what happened. Emailed Robin for you.
Thanks.
I love you

Activition bought up Valve and sucked Gabe's dick numerous times.
This is beyond ridiculous. Xolo, you seem like a very nice and friendly person and I sincerely hope that you get your account re-enabled soon.
Robin or some other big-wig at Valve honestly needs to get wind of this news and remedy it ASAP so crap like this doesn't happen again. Hopefully the emails you guys have sent won't get buried away.
I just lost so much respect for them after reading this entire thread up until now. I'm looking forward to checking in here frequently and hopefully hearing what Robin/whoever has to say about this. Seriously, why bother adding a new feature into the game if the monkeys behind it are white-knighting to the whiners and are full-out abusing their power on the supposed scammer, which in turn scares away all desire of wanting to use it? Good thing I've never traded in TF2. I've got over 200 games on my account, and if I had all of that gone simply because some moron hit a report button, words wouldn't be able to describe my rage.
lets all send a complaint mail to gaben@valvesoftware.com

Hi Gabe.
Since there is a 0.8% of you reading this, i'll make it short and not put effort into this mail.
Recently, people have had their accounts disabled. Some of them have had theirs disabled because of silly reasons like competitions or so called "raffles" when people donate one scrap each and the leader of the raffle crafts all of the scraps together for a hat. And then gives the hat to a random person in this "competition". I think it is like that, anyway. Some people have even had their accounts disabled for posting a thread on the support forums about their network connectivity.
I've had all my respect and heart for you guys at Valve. But this is insane.
Have a look at this thread:

This is the first time I heard about somebody who get his account re-enabled
After this thread I can officially say...
Fuck valve.
I feel sorry for you <3
I wasn't insinuating that you are, it's just preposterous that so many people (not you) will go out of their way to get as many hats as possible, and in the process, they get banned and because of their actions others get banned for no legitimate reason.
This doesn't really make sense.
Are you calling people stupid just because they peddle for hats in their spare time?
Shoot first and ask questions never isn't a good strategy when moderating trading Valve.
Okay, after reading through all that, my conclusion on what the matter is, is;
'Utter shite'
Come on VALVe
Also this is really quite Patronizing to Xolo. I hope it all goes well for you and the other guy has to go through as much trouble, for being a douche.
Well Valve has fallen from being top dev on my list. Rockstar and Bioware are now free to fight for that position.
I'd say Blizzard are pretty good except for the whole "ban people for cheating in SP" thing
This is the first time I heard about somebody who get his account re-enabled
Account enabling/disabling isn't the same as VAC banned/unbanned. You can never be VAC unbanned unless the ban was given by a major glitch in the system (think MW2 case)
IMHO Valve should just warn people about the common scams, like people asking more than an item is worth or switching it at the last minute for the same item but with less importance (switching unusual with normal version). They could even go as far as making a rarity scale and tell people if they're making a good deal or not.
Honestly I'm not going to bother with trading until this gets sorted out and if it's not sorted out, it'll be an aspect of the game I'll avoid.
It's just not worth losing my account and numerous amounts of games over. I've lost a good amount of respect for Valve because of this, myself and millions of other users have invested our gaming libraries in Valve and they shouldn't be stripped away because of a virtual item in one game.
Since I will likely forget about this thread, PM me op if you ever get unbanned.
I'm starting to loose my respect for VALVe.
Me too, but since I still play TF2 for 8 hours a day I decided a donation was required.
Me too, but since I still play TF2 for 8 hours a day I decided a donation was required.
"Donation"
If they had said "You can donate money to us! You won't get anything, but you play our game a lot so we deserve it" and not "You can give us money to get items!" would you have done it?
If you make a new steam account I'll buy you tf2
If you make a new steam account I'll buy you tf2
Woah! Thanks, but I'm still hoping they'll unban me. I'll wait for a response from Robin or on the ticket, and if they give me a big 'ole thumbs down I'll contact you.

Sure thing
Wait, I thought disabling accounts also included not being able to make new ones. Hope I'm wrong here. :ohdear:

That would suck
You have my wishes, man. Hope your account gets activated again.
I can't wait to see Robin's response on this.
I hate to burst your bubble, but most Valve e-mails don't get responses.
