Honestly think this is just somebody's way of attempting to get valve to beef up their steam security.
Maxy-boy's hand in it is a bit in question though.
Also, the link does not seem to work when opened trough steam.
Edit: Yay 600 posts!
if you're logged into steam via browser, log out and your avatar wont keep changing
And you also lost a lot of respect points.
on what? How?
[editline]13th October 2012[/editline]
Why did you remove me Calle?
He's probably pissed considering, you know, people's willingness to send out vaguely malicious links that could have had sinister purposes because, you know, people were amused by the image of a silly gorilly.
[editline]13th October 2012[/editline]
you know
I didn't send out any link. People have been sending me links automatically without them knowing. I don't even know what the hell is going on but its hilarious.

you know
the link even reads steamcommunity.com and selectavatar, how could it even be considered malicious
I'm serious I don't know what's going on here.

Breaking it down, it's basically that you decided to continue this link trend by quoting it, not even deciding to snip out the link, from the previous page.
Much like how KillJoy just did for this page.

Because people will always want to check the last page to see the other non-tf2 related chat

How the hell was I supposed to know that was the cause of the avatar change?
How the hell was I supposed to know that was the cause of the avatar change?
I'm pretty sure it was stated that simply having it exist on the page causes the avatar change.
Edit: Yeah, it was actually.
No, it's only when the link even EXISTS on the page.

Wrote up full details on this:
it says he tweeted it an hour ago and someone linked me it for the first time more than an hour ago, and his tweet wasn't even widely retweeted or anything so I wouldn't give him the credit
I'm pretty sure it was stated that simply having it exist on the page causes the avatar change.
All I did was click on an TF2R link and scrolled down to the bottom of the page.

Calle's just likely a little pissed. Just give him some time to cool off.
the link even reads steamcommunity.com and selectavatar, how could it even be considered malicious
Because there have been multiple links in the past that have been titled similarly, with minor differences, that would hijack accounts. Along with that considering some of the images it was putting out, it could have been an official steam link somebody had managed to tweak and was dangerous.
I wonder if Valve will remove the ability to change the avatars this way.
I can only think about the nefarious things this can be used for. Seriously.

I don't exactly see this avatar changing link to be a big deal. I find it hilarious.
....
Tip. Don't quote it.

I was bored so I made this in light of the recent situation.
I'm serious if you just removed me over that stupid quote... that's just stupid.

I still stand by what I said. Besides, it's all irrelevant now. That's just my crack as to why calle might be pissed off right now.

It could potentially aid scammers in tricking people.
As in, impersonating the less aware ones that fall for it. Just saying.
It could potentially aid scammers in tricking people.
avatar scammers!!!!!!!!!!
It could potentially aid scammers in tricking people.
Okay, I don't think avatar-changing links can go THAT far.
jesus chirst are people really getting mad over a prank
I found a fucking name tag!
It was only annoying when you visited a page and it changed your avatar without even clicking on the link.
