Major Update Speculation Thread v12: Layoffs Edition

Didn't Rageguy post an audio file from Soldier saying something in the standard Diary format?
It also mentioned that the date was February 12th. So I'm guessing the update is going to be about the Secret Diary, or a Captain's log of sorts.

Half of this stuff is in game files since release, but not used. Spider and Immortality Machine are used on Mann Manor.
Diaries are pretty Valentines-related, dontcha think?
The Diary is actually a TF2 magazine "produced" by the Palcomix team. Ya gotta buy a special key to unlock and read it.

I don't think anyone wants to unlock that

You better think again
Have there been enough valve comics since 2011 to justify The Sacrifice 2: Fist Full of Metal?
There was all that Dora stuff.
[edit]
I don't care that I imispelled Dota, Dora stays.

Maybe it could be a book for forever alones.
Before opening it, it asks you
YOUR NAME: [enter here], refrered to as X
YOUR CRUSH/GIRL/BOYFRIEND'S NAME: [enter here], referred to as Y
--
X is a very hot person, they were always secretly loved by Y! One day Y came up and kissed X on the cheek, and Scout was shocked. They eventually made out all night and bought lots of hats from Mann co.!

There have been a load of TF2 comics and the Turret Lullaby and the DOTA 2 comic, so I think they could make a whole book out of it

See what I mean?

I read a bit of the TF2 article on Tvtropes, where it said people actually enjoyed the Hatless update. I have never been angrier at Tvtropes before.
You had to mention Tvtropes?
I wanted to get something done tonight...
I read a bit of the TF2 article on Tvtropes, where it said people actually enjoyed the Hatless update. I have never been angrier at Tvtropes before.
TVTropes is quite fond of exaggerating the positive aspects of things to ridiculous extremes.
TVTropes would have you believe that the beach episode of the original Avatar cartoon was a full-blown porno through its enthusiastic usage of italics and ellipses. It was not. It was about two minutes of three characters in swimsuits before a solid twenty minutes of gormless teen drama.
It's not surprising that the site would cite the hatless update as an amazing update of absolutely NOTHING but bugfixes and absolutely zero hats whatsoever...
I've enjoyed every single update since the Pyro Update.
Alright I know I'm literally the only one on the forums who cares, but was there or was there not a particles folder in the SFM leak, but it wasn't uploaded.
Come on! I'm dying over here!
The recent "Hatless Update" which is an update that has no new hats or weapons at all and simply fixes balance issues and other small gameplay bits was met with much warmth.
I'm truly shocked at the flagrant hyberbole present on this page, and it is an outrage that the fiends on that website dare post such filth.

cool kid from the cool kids club, god damn look at this guy's hot zingers
So TB made a video recently bashing preorders and how people support games they barely know of by putting money down and using the preorder bonus as a reason for a game.
Im surprised he didnt bring up Valve, Valve sometimes supports a completely crap game like Homefront, but the reason why people preorder is usaully for the hat because otherwise it would be a fairly rare item. (See Tropico 4 or Red Faction Armageddon)

Who is TB?
Also preorder bonuses with games are usually not cosmetics in another game, I could justify buying some games and objects for the preorder at times just because the tf2 item will easily be worth a lot.
Which is why I nearly bought the robo sanvich instead of stuff for my family at christmas, sure I'd have a sanvich and $100 more than I started with but I would have pissed off everyone I know too.
Sometimes it's cheaper to buy games with promos than to not buy them at all!

I dunno, I like preorder setups, I was planning on buying Hitman: Absolution, and the extra Hitman games helped sealed the deal.

The main offenders of worthless pre-order bonuses he brought up were things like, multiple retailers having a different bonus, the game you buy coming with a cheap game thats years old, or a slightly different set of weapons or skins.

If you want to talk terrible preorder rewards, how about that Assassin's Creed 3 Gamestop preorder bonus? An incredibly short mission in a Mayan ruin, and the reward is a sword that makes combat laughably easy, but frequently glitches out and just removes itself from your inventory.

As much as i dont care about DmC, id have to say it did get one of the better Gamestop exclusive bonuses ive seen in a long time, the entire Vergil expansion for free.
TBH the best way to do pre-order bonuses is stuff like Dragon Age's Stone Prisoner. In other words, not store exclusive, but buying new exclusive essentially.

Eh, Blood Money was plenty fun, and the the pre-purchase was 10% off. Also, people can tell if a game is fun usually by the gameplay previews.
What if in the next Grordbort update Gray Mann finds a grocket? New mvm map and tour where the robots use Grordbort weapons.
I want strange Grordbort weapons
Giant Crit Bison Soldiers?
Giant Phlosginator Pyros?
I like it. I like it very much.

I bet series 50 will be the best Grodborts all in one crate.
