I've just got the image of Gabe being some 'paranoid king' type character.
And now I can't get the image out of my head.
Why don't I have a HLDS email yet.
Tomorrow's the night.
Oh I thought today was the 14th

Come to Australia!

Also: people are saying that statistically 6.25% of valve have left today. That's pretty sombering.
From what iv'e seen a lot of the people who've left are just those who were in the initial stages of projects. such as TF2 and portal 1 ect
and kinda redundant. or someone else may be able to do their job better/with more ease.

It still doesn't make sense. I'm only an accountant in California so Washingtons tax laws might be different but Valve will have to pay unemployment, possibly severance pay, and it will cost them more to hire and train new employees than just training the old ones. I think Valve is trying to downsize their full-time employees to try to skirt Obamacare but thats just my opinion.
theory on valve layoffs: a lot of those people looked pretty expensive / senior
sometimes they're the first to go when there's restructuring
Someone should email the SFM team and ask them why Bay and the others got fired.
Now I just feel like Valve isn't going to be the same that we used to know...

He left to go onto a new and unique creation of his own.
hmm
I give it one day before this is a Shrek alert pun.
Oh wait.

i have a feeling that bay and at least 1 or 2 others off the list probably left on their own, and unfortunately got their names involved in all of this

But why would they?
I miss all of them ;_;
Bay was the first Valve employee to comment on anything I've done, and lead to the inclusion of The Head Warmer of Australian Christmas 2011. He has helped establish my footing in this ground of item contribution, and that has lead to so many more things. Business things. Big things.
I'm going to miss him. And I'm worried about what's to come.
This. Bay also commented on my first Nutcracker model I submitted for Christmas 2011. It got me so pumped, I felt like I could do anything. It gave me the drive to model my ass off in order to get better.
I really hope for the best in whatever endeavor he does next.

I read that as He made me drive the model up my ass.
Thanks Obama.
Gabe. Why.
Bay Raitt was the Mann.
It's true. The robots are here. We're done.
I saw the news pop up on Gamasutra earlier - These guys are great (if not the best) at what they do or else they wouldn't have made it into Valve, so I'm sure they're probably being snatched up by competitors as we speak. Although having said that, the fact that some of the team members were on the TF2 team are now gone is a bit concerning.

Too late, I've already hired them for my project on Confederate Ghouls. EA is gonna have to wait it's turn.

Did I also mention I'm also a recently unemployed animator and rigging artist looking for a job? [sp]wink wonk....Seriously though, I need a job. :c[/sp]
Craftable taunts
Well, Its valentines day. And now we wait for nothing.:v:

I get the feeling it will just be the Brutal Legend promo hats/weapon reskins plus another expensive item like the ring.
To think I was actually getting kinda excited for this update.
Reading this thread was the most horrible thing now, I was like expecting some Valentines day update shit or something :(
Happy valentines day for you all, though. I hope we can all have a nice day despite of this shitty news regarding Valve.
Valve can predict its own future http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=2518 (2009)
I'm gonna be here laughing when you guys are all hyped for a big update and all it is is promos and something to do with the jag :V:
I'm gonna be here laughing when you guys are all hyped for a big update and all it is is promos and something to do with the jag :V:
All the hype I had for this update kinda died down when the promos were revealed. I mean, they are good for the people that want them, but they don't add a substantial amount to the game nor will any Linux event that may happen.
Why is everyone talking about the jag these days? Did I miss something?
Did I miss something?
yes
