the new buds contender i dare say.
It won't be as valuable, people expect this thing to be valuable and it's a lot easier to get linux than it is to get OS X (hackintosh is a pain on some machines).
looks like a grenade
Considering the Linux page is linking to Ubuntu, I expect it won't even reach Bud like prices (except for the first 20 minutes or so).
Page king

I wonder where it goes. Looks like something that attaches to a belt.
So, where'd you find this? I see it not on the blog, store page, nor the tf2 facebook page.

Instead of extra stuff when there is 1.5 or 2.5 or 10.5. We gonna use 2.5 = 2 earbuds + 1 linux :v:

Tonight's the night?!
I have no idea how Linux works, so here's a dumb question:
If I install Linux do I have to download Steam and/or TF2 again? What are the chances of Linux completely annihilating my PC and everything I hold dear?
Looks more like a backpack item.

As for the Steam stuff, let someone smarter than me answer.

I clicked this legitimately believing it's authenticity, and when I got a 404 page it gave my flash backs to the time somebody posted a fake update page that gave everybody a false positive back during the Pyromania update.
Good times.

Its authentic. Tux picture in store links to that page.
Wait, so trying out ubuntu would lead to any content being removed/having to reinstall steam and tf2? I'm kinda pessimistic with stuff like that.
Anyone know if you can launch tf2 without having all 13gb of files downloaded? 13GB is gonna take forever on my connection.

just like the Mac Update

Just copy all GCF from your computer to Linux ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps directory, namely:
source materials.gcf
source models.gcf
source sounds.gcf
source 2007 shared materials.gcf
source 2007 shared models.gcf
source 2007 shared sounds.gcf
team fortress 2 content.gcf
team fortress 2 materials.gcf
team fortress 2 client content.gcf

If you're in it just for the item, you could run SAM or one of the item managers to spoof TF2 being run. It's worked with every single time-based item in the past, there's no reason it won't work now.

What exacly is SAM?
Also is there any kind of risk using item managers?

Does SAM work with linux?
Why the hell are so many of you installing it only today.
I got mine a while ago just for this, it's also being used as a PHP server now for when I'm done with it.
Does SAM work with linux?
I actually don't know. I haven't bothered.
I'm just making note of it to everyone that you don't have to install a single file of TF2 if you're doing this just for an item instead of to have Linux.
I don't want the annoyance of installing Linux, I may get the promo later if it's nice otherwise I see no reason to go to the trouble.
I should start a "I'll-startup-tf2-on-my-linux-box-for-you-for-a-fee" service.
Does SAM work with linux?
I believe it doesn't since it requires .NET framework 3.5, and the actual program is an .exe

So many people are going to lose their accounts to scams like this. Not saying you'd do that, but people are stupid.
