Major Update Speculation Thread v12: Layoffs Edition - Games

Advice: dont fucking make a partition. I just lost every other fucking HDD except my main HDD because Windows thought he'd be a funny cunt and instead of merging 2 partitions, he's delete the data instead and go "WELL, YOU HAD LINUX. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO" GF all my Steam games. GF.

My favorite part of this update is going to be watching all the people fucking up their data just to get a penguin

At least I'm not an idiot and am just using VirtualBox. Even if I didn't, I could always restore from one of my system images laying around if things went FUBAR. [editline]14th February 2013[/editline] Still haven't gotten my Tux. I'm just going to figure it out over the weekend.

There's that .rar from the update page someone posted. It works, but it sets your name to "i cheated for at tux" afterwards.

Thanks Tecto, now I feel like an oldbie. Also, Blue Shift / Opposing Force need an HD remake. On topic, I love how ever since Tux hit, Earbuds have actually gone UP in price. So much for that theory.

It's really not that difficult to install Ubuntu. It takes a few minutes to download it, then it's a matter of putting it on a thumb drive and booting it at start up. Do not install it over Windows. Do what I'm doing and just keep both your current OS and Ubuntu, it's way better then having all your files get deleted.

...How are people fucking up their installs? The Linux page links straight to a version that makes its own partition and has a SINGLE BUTTON that uninstalls it, while keeping the boot record clean.

It's funny seeing people download an entire OS just to get one of the cheapest promos of all time.

It somehow worked out of the box for me on my really old Linux install. I would migrate full stop if they brought over a certain other Valve title nobody likes and I didn't until my friend got me into it.
