So Team Fortress 2 wouldn't launch on my Ubuntu, but it still gave me the Tux. That's a pleasant surprise.

Just had a wonderful chat about "fitting items" with a quite angry chap in a server i'm not a fan of tux's design but this guy was 100% insisting it was an insult and didn't fit with the other pet/item cosmetics and looked way too silly So in brief [img]http://puu.sh/22R8g[/img]

It fits with the style more than half of that bullshit.

It'll spew out a bunch of opengl errors and the games won't run, but you'll get the penguin.

Maybe you should just launch it in textmode? does that drop the item?

Not sure how relevant it is to say this but just starting TF2 is enough to get your TUX. What I mean by that is that, like I previously mentioned, I have ubuntu running in virtual box [not the brighest solution but it worked] and after some stress I managed to start TF2 but it would just give me a black screen and my cursor. At that point I would give up and come back later but when I booted TF2 on my Windows system, it gave me the Tux. Despite never showing the main menu, it did in fact detect that I was on a Linux distribution and therefore giving me my own Tux.

Valve should probably add a particle limit graphical option seeing as they raised it and that particles are the main thing that causes performance issues for a lot of people.

I've given up trying to run TF2 in VMware with my AMD card, going with the lazy route sucks.
