Are you speculating or stating?
It's just a suggestion of what we could make. Would be a very good opportunity to do something along those lines.
Taking into consideration source film-maker has a tool for exporting sequences as dmx's and there's a "User_Animations" file for each and every class A contributor made all-class taunt could be within reason. of course someone more informed on the subject would have to take the reigns.
I'd love to make custom taunts, hell, i'd love to make any kind of custom animation. Using the stock animations everytime is getting boring.

Weapon animations might be trickier as they have to be integrated with the walk cycles and stuff.

well, Valve has done other ridiculous hacktastic things to TF2 before.
well, Valve has done other ridiculous hacktastic things to TF2 before.
the thing is, the animation scripting isn't hacktastic, it's just incredibly convoluted due to source's design so the fact that it's like that, at its best.. that's saying something
Seeing as I've seen nothing on this yet (though I might have completely missed it), does this new format mean that files won't get deleted from our folders if that file is modified in an update (like how in the most recent update, the fix Valve included for the Buck Turners deleted Psyke's fix for them)?
I was playing tf2 beta, and i found this maps, called devtest. and background01, also there is a map called cloak, anybody know what thing are this maps? http://imgur.com/a/InPSF
Re: [hlds] SteamPipe is coming. Download the TF beta Fletcher Dunn Wed, 20 Feb 2013 09:07:17 -0800 This change doesn't include any workshop integration, but it's definitely something we want to do. These filesystem changes lay some groundwork to make the workshop stuff possible.
I like this.
those maps were released with source FM
I downloaded it what, two hours ago. Didn't post here as I thought you guys updated when I was off as always.
A question, if you have 2 mods that do the same thing, i.e they affect what your HUD pictures are, and you put both in this subfolders malarkey, can you control which overwrites which? I don't understand this whole shenanigan, it worked perfectly fine before.
Fletcher taking questions on SPUF http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3081571
To answer a few questions: "Validating files" every time should be fixed by this change. We'll migrate certain user config files to the new directory when the real game is converted. (But probably not custom content. That will just stay in the old folder and you can move it to the appropriate place.) We didn't do that for the TF beta, though. We'll have a blog post that explains more details about that when the time comes. Dedicated servers use the same VPK's as the client. This update will not add the L4D ability to dynamically add/remove addons. You will have to restart the game. But it lays the groundwork to add that at a later date, as well as Steam workshop integration. This is definitely something we have in mind. VPKs volumes are split into 100MB-200MB chunks. So FAT32, etc is not an issue. (They still can be accessed as a single logical volume by the VPK tool and GCFScape, sort of like multi-part .RAR and .ZIP files.) Users of the TF beta are reporting their boot and load times have been cut in half. We expect to retain all existing functionality for all different ways to customize the game. All existing custom maps should work without modification. There should be no reason to edit or rebuild the game VPK's. You can override any existing file and drop it loose into a subfolder in the addons directory, and it will take priority over the game VPK's. More questions? Keep 'em coming.
so when are we getting this
Fletcher taking questions on SPUF http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3081571
Can you play on regular TF2 servers while using the beta?
so when are we getting this
1-2 weeks
haha, wicked got ninja'd by Fletcher on answering my very important question about the release day
It's probably at least a week or two more before we release the client. We'll have a blog post with all the finalized details. I'd bet (but cannot confirm) that the ability to customize the blood and gore assets will be fixed. I mean if you're into that sort of thing.

haha, wicked got ninja'd by Fletcher
I tend to like disobeying instructions if the side effect is harmless (specifically the "don't hold me on that" part)
1-2 weeks
Maybe even 2-4 weeks. Fletcher says they plan on releasing TF last.
1-4 weeks is the range is we combine both answers
Might as well just say "March-ish" Sounds about right.
I'll take the conservative 2-4 weeks, Bob.
October or November might be a good estimate
How about when Half-Life 3 is finished? I'd say that's a good estimate :v:
How about when Half-Life 3 is finished? I'd say that's a good estimate :v:
Soon. Eventually. ...and my personal favorite: When it's done.
I'm sure they'll release it right after quickplay comes out of beta.
The L4D Megathread is making fun of you guys for thinking that this is a good thing.
So does this mean that Gmod will also be moving to steampipe, assuming all source titles are?
Soon. Eventually. ...and my personal favorite: When it's done.
But it worth the weight ! ______________ Back to speculation, now we've got those amazing promos, is there a chance to have any "interresting" content before med-march ?
The L4D Megathread is making fun of you guys for thinking that this is a good thing.
I for one, do not want to wait 10 minutes every time I want to boot TF2
