If someone asks you to do something that you can't do, you tell them you can't do it. You don't say "ok" then proceed to do your own thing without telling them and block communication.

Yeah, except for the first paragraph. And judging by everyone's reaction, the ban request rule seemed to be common knowledge.

First it was "it's in the rules" and when it wasn't, you now say "it's common knowledge"

Ok, sorry. I realise I'm trying to justify the unjustifiable, and I apologise for bringing this back up again. I can't help but wonder, though, what would've been the point of the ban had it been granted accordingly? He could've easily logged out and keep reading FP as normal. And judging by how desperate he was, he probably would've done it at one point or another.

It's not the moderation teams' job to be his guardian, so I completely understand why the rule exists.

If someone requests a ban twice, just tell him to go fuck himself or something because it's not allowed, don't perma him.

but you know what would have been really easy to say "we. cant. temp. ban. on. request." six words. easy. i cant think of any PC words to describe this situation so ill just go with "fucking insane"
