why would you be offended?
Because that wasn't italian enough. I don't see any moustache on the scout.
I like how they didn't write a blog post about all of the new things coming up for TF2 in 2013. I think that Mayan blood tornado post ruined 2012 for me. Expectations were set far too high, and it's nice to see that Valve realizes that now. Not knowing what's in store for the rest of 2013 is fine by me, just so long as something eventually ends up being updated.
Can we talk UUPDDAATE

I hate how the first blog post in this year turned out to be a disaster.
Bodes well for the rest of the year, doesn't it? :v:

Are you saying Mann vs Machine didn't live up to your expectations
I think that's just the innate thirst for anything new at all that the majority of TF2 players have talking

How? No one cared about them before and no one really noticed now. All that happened was a few people who didn't want them traded them for more than they would have been able to otherwise.

The TF2012- blogpost got me too hyped for Meet the Pyro, it was a bit too short and not as entertaining to watch as the other meet the -shorts.
MtP is one of my favorite Mtt videos
mine is meet the engineer.
Mtp and Mtm :3

No, my point is that the blog post at the beginning of the year was too much hype too soon. Hearing Valve say "2012 is going to be the biggest year for TF2 ever!" made me assume (rightly or wrongly, it doesn't matter) that 2012 was going to be a nonstop cavalcade of amazing, massive updates, which it wasn't. Overall, I really enjoyed MvM and I was very impressed with the Mecha Update, but I kinda think I would've enjoyed 2012's content even more had I not read that first blog post promising heaps of cool new content.
So I'm glad they went back to their old, elusive ways for 2013. We don't really know what to expect out of the coming months, and that's fine with me.
I'm glad they didn't do a blog tease for 2013 like they did for 2012, because that just crushed dreams
I don't understand how MvM "didn't live up to expectations." What expectations were there? We expected to fight waves of robots, and we got exactly that.
The only thing I hear people say time and again is "Trailer showed red/blu, got red only." If that alone ruined the whole (rather well-designed) mode in your opinion... I think you're more than a little petty.

Yeah, okay. I get what you mean, as you had every right to.
From Valve's perspective, they were excited that this thing they'd been working on and teasing for years would finally be reaching the point where they could talk about it openly. They were probably excited as fuck. While everyone had every right to be, yeah, too early.
That reminds me; 3 days until MvM's 6-month anniversary.
the thing with MvM was it was a big huge surprise that was suppose to be the pinnacle of the entire year, but everyone had known about it for years, so it wasn't really a surprise at all. Pyromania and the Mecha update had more surprising content than MvM
6-month anniversary.
Sorry, nitpick time...
Anni means Year. There's no such thing as what you just said.

6-month mensiversary. Excuse me, your royal fucking highness, lord of all things title and grammar.

I'm optimistic, actually, yeah.
It's usually not a good idea to try to predict Valve based on what they did on the previous year, but there is one thing we can probably count on: the early half of each year will be the slower part.
The blog posts tend to be a little more transparent about whether they have anything up their sleeves, as well. Like this, and this seemed to imply we weren't getting anything significant for a long time, since something like the Classless Update would have just announced them together.
Instead, they were trying to maintain interest with whatever they could find. They even went and promised a tiny schedule for the entire year, including an annual event.
When you think about it, the accumulated drippings of cosmetics and whatnot in early 2012 would have made up at least one of those update's worth of material.
We've already had a weird economy experiment going. There's apparently time and interest for that, which is promising! It'd be nice to get something in April or May.
(although I consider fucking with hats and the economy to be almost content, so we might have different standards, here)
Hatless update 2 will be welcomed.

This is the first time I've ever seen someone post on this forum from a Wii.
Sorry off topic. Anyway... I think they're experimenting with the economy at a more cautious pace now, ever since they saw how much chaos the marketplace and the removal of uncraftability caused.
