Don't worry, mate. I made a very bad trade a while back (earbuds for one hat) and eventually found myself saddled with the Guadalajara. Now, I have a painted Baker Boy and am working my way back up to a high-level hat.
So don't worry, man. Keep making good trades and picking up free items, and you'll find yourself in a good position in no time.
