The Grimm Hatte is getting textures soon! [editline]8th January 2013[/editline] I also need a name for it.
How about a heating element or a cable wrapping round the yellow bit? Or even a cable running from the yellow thing into the head of the wearer. Some "explanation" for why it glows is what I mean. unless that middle bit is a battery, can't tell.
Its a battery. Gonna be busy, so did a bare bones release in case I miss the deadline. Will likely add stuff later
Is there anything I should change with this texture, or is it ready to submit?
I literally thought it was the default Merryweather at first till I realised what thread I was in... I think you're gonna have to do more to differentiate it from the original, maybe a new colour scheme like the U-clank-a or the Stealth Steeler is needed.
You probably scrolled too fast. It looks different enough.
side-by-side you can tell the difference, but that isn't how it will be seen ingame
it's pretty much the same hat with bolts attached when you have something that's already metal you have to do a bit more
side-by-side you can tell the difference, but that isn't how it will be seen ingame
Wait...you're right..
Hey everyone. I just wanted to say what a great job you've all been doing! We've had a few submissions already, and thank you to everyone who's submitted early! Good luck for the final deadline tomorrow. If you're rushing to finish, do not stress. Late items may be accepted, but just not given the media spotlight the on-time ones get (not because we want to be mean, just because we have to plan things in advance). You've all done a great job on your robotisations! I'm looking forward to the next two weeks of non stop drawing an animating to make this update a reality. This has pretty much been the most peaceful and well mannered thread I've seen on facepunch before, so well done on that front aswell. If only we could work this well together all the time :D
NeoDement, would you kindly share your bodygroups before the t 10th? I would be most grateful. Pageking, take a brainless story.
Is there anything I should change with this texture, or is it ready to submit?
It's probably just me, but the color you used for the rusted part really bothers me :v:
It' is similar but at the same time the existing robot hats are kinda similar... Here's what I'd do: That crest looks like a slice of bread to me. Turn it into a slice of bread and turn the hat into a toaster A robot pyro running around with a toaster for a hat? Hell yeah!
In that case, I'll grab the Noble Amassment and Towering Pillar you'd claimed earlier, since I've already done the Modest. :) And also, I agree with what others have said -- your Foster's was pretty damn nice. Progress on Scotsman's. Don't worry, I'll use a different mesh for the amassment/pillar. It'll lose the stovepipe vent top, and replace the metal band with a cord.
looks like the smoothing is all fucked up

That's quite a cool artstyle you got there rain, I'm jealous that I suck with a tablet...
That's quite a cool artstyle you got there rain, I'm jealous that I suck with a tablet...
pencil and paper is still also endboss
Rain should have some sort of creative input in Cuntsman's comic, his art is epic
Rain should have some sort of creative input in Cuntsman's comic, his art is epic
Cunts is a professional, he'll do a fine job at it. Mixing the style of two artists will probably turn out funky
got everything packed up and submitted
Rain should have some sort of creative input in Cuntsman's comic, his art is epic
thanks for the compliment but that isn't a good idea I think.
Cunts is a professional, he'll do a fine job at it. Mixing the style of two artists will probably turn out funky
One draws/inks, other colours everything :eng101:
Be sure to color inside the lines
Could someone link me to a tutorial how to make some nice promo screenshots with Source Filmmaker? If there is no such tutorial would somebody be willing to make one or record a short screen demo and share it so we can all get some quality screenshots for the workshop?
need some advice on this hat before i finish it took rains advice and made the black seam down the middle more like a seam. still maybe need to touch it up a bit. inspecter also said to add some edge wear. any advice on that? do i use lines that are close to the color of the edge itself, or should i use just a black line?
Rivets look really bland, quite excellent apart from that, although in my opinion, the colours are a bit bright for a robot hat
yeah, i wasnt sure what to do to the rivets to make em stand out more. wasnt sure whether or not to add brush strokes, seeing how small they are. and, yeah, i just took the colors straight from the regular toque, but i can fix that. and thanks for the compliment  also what does everyone think of this name for it? "Tough Guy's Torque" cause y'know, torque and metal and stuff
I'm back with the battery dalokohs bar, and my first texture Imo i think it's done, what do you guys think?
I'd say it's too close to a chocolate bar still. While big batteries often come in cardboard boxes, it's not incredibly common for them to be wrapped like chocolate. Torn paper looks too organic for a metal machiney type item. I also think in general it looks too close to the normal Dalokohs bar. Even the name is a tad too close, making it look like the Dalokohs Chocolate Company produces batteries. I would suggest using a real 9v battery as further reference: [t]http://3d4me.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/9v-battery.jpg[/t] I'd also suggest to remove the paper edges and make it a solid printed battery like the above, and to give it a more unique name, while keeping the Dalokohs color scheme (perhaps without the white stripe, or at least changing the pattern to feel different). Even on the real life 9v battery the + and - contacts of the battery look more TF2ish and exaggerated in detail, so I'd suggest that too. As a final suggestion I also think the entire model looks too square. Which isn't a bad thing in itself necessarily but it does sort of just look like a simple cuboid with a texture at this point. Just my two cents. I do however love the idea of it being a battery. It's a clever choice to retain the original shape.
Finally came up with a name for the Robo-Hermes; The Message Header. :v:
Made a phongmask for my robo-fosters: Would Ferrous Facade be a good name? It essentially means iron face.
