Unfortunately, we already have a Beanie
Unfortunately, we already have a Beanie
Hmmm? The list hasn't been updated yet tho. Oh well, good luck with that.
Hmmm? The list hasn't been updated yet tho. Oh well, good luck with that.
You could always conceptise another robot hat. A batter's helm would be pretty goo- Oh wow, this could work... Hmmm...
Has the Brigade Helm been done? (ahem that table in the OP needs to be updated)
Has the Brigade Helm been done? (ahem that table in the OP needs to be updated)
No, it hasn't I've been updating my list since day one if anyone wants to know
No, it hasn't I've been updating my list since day one if anyone wants to know
It's not up-to-date anymore
It's not up-to-date anymore
I thought he kept a seperate list?
I thought he kept a seperate list?
Yes he did but it's probably not complete either. @oj: if you're still updating it you can add me working on square's sober stuntman concept
This probably isn't the best of places, but what do I put/change in a .vmt to make the texture not reflect at all?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/tLbHG5J.jpg[/t]
Forget about the Beanie, we really NEED to model that mask.
Hi guys... So I've been reading through this thread to catch up on something I've been missing out on, and I somewhat gut wrenchingly discovered that a lot of those I've come to respect here have very low opinions of me. To the point of someone even saying they despise me, dispute the lack of ever meeting or speaking with me. I'm Benjamoose for those who are misled by my FacePunch name. I don't want to detract from the purpose of this thread beyond this post so I'll try to clarify a few things then leave the subject at bay. I'm sorry for anything I've said or done that has lead any of you to believe that I'm some kind of control freak or that I'm in any way arrogant. Before continuing I'd like to lay a few points to rest. I admit, my group and server can come across as flaunting. This is something I've hated since several months after it's creation, two years ago. When we first started up, I was incredibly excited with my co-creator at being one of the first authors to be accepted into the game. We had been thinking about starting a server for a while before that and we felt this was the perfect time to start, as it would likely draw in a core crowd. Back then, the server/group was called "The Dalokohs Creators". Tacky I know. Over the years I've hated that decision, but the fact that our audience now knew TDC by it's name made it very difficult to do anything about it. If we had changed the name completely we would have lost every member of our group due to having to recreate it (as Steam doesn't allow name changes) and we'd be back at square one. I then came up with the solution of changing the name from "Creators" to "Club". We never announce or discuss that it is owned by one of the authors, and we try to come across as one of those servers that uses names like Sandvich in their title. Believe me, I understand the thoughts on that. But this was the best I could do, and it seems to be working well for us. Nobody ever assumes or asks, and we have a tight core group of regulars that I've become good friends with over the years. As for the shirts. This is branding for the server itself, many servers do this, it's for those that enjoy playing on our servers, not for the sake of promoting the fact of it's creation. We have never wanted a store, but my girlfriend and I struggle to pay bills, let alone our server bills, so this was the only thing we could come up with to try and raise money to pay to keep the server alive. We very rarely (if ever) get sales on the store, and it's only ever promoted within our group. As for the TF2 Wiki image showing a Sandvich being changed into a Dalokohs Bar. That was a long time ago. I'm rather close friends with members of the Wiki (I currently do the Instructional Video Series and voice) and back when I was mainly an active image editor it was likely intended as a joke amongst those present in the Wiki IRC. Finally I'd like to clarify something with the battery bar itself. I loved it. I had no issues with the bar itself beyond some minor criticism, I just prefer that people don't make money off of one of the only mildly successful unique things I've had my names attached to. The thing is, unlike many of your amazing models and multiple uploads/accepted items, it's likely the last and only thing I'll ever get into the game. I love mods and skins related to it. I have no issue with people modifying, changing, or using the item in any way what-so-ever, I even love any artwork or videos that use it. The only thing I ever objected to was making money off of it. Nothing else. Now very quickly back to my apology. I really don't want you all to turn me into some sort of online monster that gets those secret behind-the-back comments that the likes of popular YouTuber's get. I'm a nice, friendly approachable guy and I literally had (and still have as I write this) a stomach ache at reading a whole page of people saying that they hated me. I'm sorry if I've ever led you to believe I'm anything other than I intend. I'm a huge fan of Team Fortress and love to help people promote it's awesomeness. Whether it be the Wiki, Kritzkast, or my favorite place on Facepunch, the Emporium. Thanks for reading and I apologize for taking the focus away from the subject. Edit:
Not to mention, everytime someone talks about the Dalokohs bar in a conversation, he will mention every little detail that went into the making of the item, and how Valve hasn't implemented his fix yet (someone actually removed that from the wiki today). But anyway, back on topic, how long do you think the comic will be pages-wise?
I'm not sure where this has come from. I very rarely like to discuss the item anymore, nor do I really talk with anyone outside of my Ventrilo group. There were two periods where I did this. When it was first added and when I updated the texture. Beyond that it's not a discussion I enjoy.
What
What
Apologies for the confusion. I read a short conversation in this thread where regular Emporium goers I had come to respect apparently either despised or disliked me. I simply wanted to lay some things to rest and clear my name a little.
words
Why not make your own version of the battery/dolocas, and submit it to the update/workshop? You have enough time to make something, and if you're struggling financially, it could be a good band wagon to hop onto! Get to work!!
I did a beautiful batter's helm [sp]reskin because I can't model to save my life[/sp]. So sad how the model makes everything red/blue and it turns out a horrible solid colour, and I wouldn't know how to sort that. I wouldn't expect a sorry looking [sp]reskin[/sp] to get in the mod pack or anything though so :v:
Could we see it in game, it doesn't really look accurate to the in-game colours
WORDS
Why you liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle. I'm joking of course. I'm fine that you restricted us on the Battery Bar, but if the reason why was because you weren't comfortable with us getting money for something you made, why not just ask us to credit you, you could have gotten a percentage.
Could we see it in game, it doesn't really look accurate to the in-game colours
The colouring actually looked fine when I put it in, the main problem was it all being a singular block of course. I'll get an image. Edit: Just a heads up, the colours are based off of the Soldier's helmets (but not copied directly from), so they should be pretty okay. Still gonna need to get that image of how bad it looks in a singular solid colour. Edit2: So the BLU skin works fine, for some reason I didn't check that: Also, maybe the colours are a tiny bit out of scheme, I can always patch that up so it's less vibrant if I decide it's worth going further with (doubtful)
Apologies for the confusion. I read a short conversation in this thread where regular Emporium goers I had come to respect apparently either despised or disliked me. I simply wanted to lay some things to rest and clear my name a little.
I'd like to point out that I never said I disliked you. In fact, starting out on gamebanana you were one of the first skinners I came to respect. And your work has been good consistently since.
Good colors, I think it needs a spec map. BEFORE AFTER Edit: Okay, I'm gonna leave it as the old version. Now to fix the shinyness. The red texture being a solid colour is still a big problem though. :suicide:
The original batters helm was coloured plastic, this is painted metal, base the phongboost and spec map on other robot hats such as the tin pot. It will look better.
I'd like to point out that I never said I disliked you. In fact, starting out on gamebanana you were one of the first skinners I came to respect. Even something as mild as NeoDement referring to me as an oddball (I believe? Apologies if I've remembered wrongly) in the discussion made me feel a tad down. I'm just sorry that I had any hand in this whole misunderstanding of character at all. I like where this is going thus far.

Maybe you could you maing the visor and ear piece (or whatever it's called) more square and a bit thicker?

My cat can model better than me. But anyway, I could probably add some other stuff, on the top left there is a big tear mark on the "paint" too though, but that's not that noticable. Any ideas on what I should add?

Even something as mild as NeoDement referring to me as an oddball (I believe? I too seemed to have clear memories of you being over excited about the Dalokohs Bar and the over-protectiveness still feels a little dickish even now, especially with that one coffee machine for the Pyro backpack. Still, odd. Not necessarily negative. The love of your own item is fine, not letting anyone use the word Dalokohs imo isn't.
Use the method of spec maps that the Team Captain has, the alpha on the vtf for paint, flat normal with a normal spec map for detail.
Wiki Cap (or many other hats) would be a better example seeing as the Team Captain is unpaintable.
It's still way too shiny. $reflectivity, $rimlight and a couple others have had no positive effect. :/ I also added a metal visorish bit, noticable above and below: edit: Edit2: I think I fixed reflection.
