I never said that, and I'm pretty sure the people ITT getting them are the ones who don't give a fuck if someone plays on a mac or PC, they just want the buds.

It is breaking the EULA that you signed when you made your steam account. You agreed that you would not give away your steam account to others for any period of time. So letting others get the earbuds for you would mean valve who can tell if you got them legit or not, could take your account away, including games that you did not even do this in.

after all, I really don't care about my backpack anymore and there is lot's of griefing possibilities with earbuds, and another halo-caust or something that Valve can do would be pretty confusing for new mac-players, so they should just ignore it

It's a could, because with secure methods there's no way valve can prove you gave out your account information. For all they know, it could be a publically accessible mac that people were just using to sign on and grab buds and leave.

They could check your IP and the one that logged into mac and see that it was logged in from different countries, they could also check if any IPs repeatedly logged into a ton of different accounts through a mac, both of these are not 100% accurate so they'll probably do nothing about it.
