Lucky bastard, well not really, if I had taken the time to learn modeling before you and made even better things I would have gotten them too, or instead of you. Either way I'm envious.
There's still time.
If you ask me this is fucking stupid. First developers get their own ass raping weapons, now random people with no relation? Too far.
Boo-hoo. You don't know what the weapon will be like yet. It might be a completely balanced weapon which just works differently than the original, or it might be just a cosmetic change. ITT people jumping on the hatewagon :bandwagon:
I remember back at WCG 2007 (World Cyber Games) no one was talking to Gabe and the was like a 75 person line to talk to people who worked on L4D, the portal booth was empty, So I made light conversation and he gave me like 16 DOD:S codes. :D TL;DR Gabe is not popular and he will give you free stuff if you give him attention. NOW on to the real answer get a syringe gun that for every critical it damages over time like it has aids.
According to VALVe their idea as of now is that a community contributor can add special properties from a list to his/her favourite weapon.
Are we allowed to see this list when available?
Are we allowed to see this list when available?
I'll post it here when I get it. There's also the fact that I listened to FP and made their requests, not just made my own projects and that I gained a bit of support and/or popularity by doing this. You could say the same about the mappers who got their high-quality maps into TF2 and stuff. Were they lucky too? I thought not.
This kind of things just make people angry and jealous.
Isint that the point?

Of course, he did something great, but only 5% of the community will ever know of his work.

If you guys get weapons for your contributions (wish I think is a great addition) they must not be powerful in any kind of sense I suppose. Maybe they should just be weapons like the Sandvich (comical style weapons without that much of an effect)? Otherwise people will complain constantly about the great injustice being done to them. I also think it is reasonable that people will be angry to an extent. Therefore the new weapons must be only be slight variations, or weapons such as the Sandvich which have little impact on the game's structure. The weapon should make people intrigued and curious but not angrily jealous. Maybe even just new models that only serve an aesthetic purpose. Like replacing the Wrench with a spanner or something. It doesn't change anything it just makes people go "Hey cool they guy has a spanner".
I think so, yes.
I hope so :)
Dude it's never too late. I just started modelling a few days ago, and upon hearing about this I really want to keep it up!
That's the other aspect of the community items everyone seems to ignore: it boosts the will to make community content.
People also think modelling and skinning is super easy. :v:
People also think modelling and skinning is super easy. :v:
It is, but making it fit into TF2 and be high-quality is not.
People also think modelling and skinning is super easy. :v:
Well most people I talk to have always thought it a very hard skill to acquire. That is why they are reluctant to learn.
Lulz me and Daimao are getting items you'll never get unless you work at Valve or are made of awesomeness.
Eeh I got really bored (now that I'm in school) and though these semi-BALANCEDish (kinda) weapons up. They're stuff I'd like to play with, anyways. The names aren't all so great. Scout: Sasha's Sister: 4 ammo, 100% crits from behind Soldier: 5 seconds of crit on kill, 6 ammo Frag grenade: 20 second respawn, lots of damage (120 or so, AoE influenced) Ace of Spades: passive weapon, replaces shovel and makes the soldier run pyro/medic speed in return for 25 (or 50) health. Pyro: Shoddy shotty: same effect as axtinguisher. Cryro: like this except also temporarily slows people down moving and shooting. Demo: Iron stomach: Passive item. Gibs are treated like sandwiches (they give health when picked up) for 20 to 35 hp. Engie: pistol that uncloaks and undisguises spies and fully fixes sentries (sniperrifle speed, 100% accuracy.) Medic: Overhealer: 30% slower heal, 200% overheal, 20% less decay rate, no Ubercharge) Syringe: no damage but poisons enemies (acts like fire that doesn't fade over time) and heals teammates 70 health. Spy: (sorry, the weapons are overpowered) Infinite and instant cloak: self explanatory Tranq gun: 100% accuracy revolver for 0 damage that has 20% slowdown and inability to shoot (like if you stab the razorback) for 5 seconds each. Oh, hell. This might as well be one of those "UNLOKBLE SUGGENSITON LOOC NAOW!" posts on the steam forum. P.S. I wonder what you would have to do to get one of these? Get your stuff put into the game?

(He never said Royzo was getting one too. :v:)
But on the other hand: didn't he say he was interested in buying SOME hats, and that was while thinking you made all of them? In that case, he might have only been interested in Royzo's/AyesDyef's/Anyone's hats, meaning the one not to get anything...
Now I wish I could actually do something other than get banned.

Here's a unique idea that could verge on being an exclusive unlock: the Football. Since Valve did the silly thing by giving Heavy an uncharacteristic Football Helmet for Heavy's first hat, here's an unlock that could build on Heavy's secret dream of being an American Football player. It replaces the Fists, and is effectively what it's name suggests: an American-style football (which us Brits call a rugby ball) that Heavy carries under his right arm. When using this, you cannot Punch like normal. Instead, you dash forwards at 120% baseline speed, about halfway between Scout and Medic speed, with the left hand facing forwards, yelling a distinct warcry, sending enemies in his path flying, whilst also dealing 20-40 damage to every person he hits. It sacrifices damage for high knockback, and has more of a tactical advantage, be it crowd control (send clusterfucks of Scouts flying back to Boston), fleeing from a dangerous enemy, getting to places fast, or even stealing Intel. That's the basic gist of it, but i'm not sure whether that alone would be enough, or whether it's overpowered (could be likely), so I formulated multiple nerfs to try and balance this bad boy out. One such nerf could be a Dash meter, restricting how long you can dash for (say about 6 seconds). In my opinion, I think maybe the Dash meter would be an essential for this item. Another nerf could coincide with the Dash meter, where if you keep on Dashing when the meter's out, you go even slower than Heavy's normal speed (around 50% baseline), with the Heavy gasping, for a few seconds, similar to the Atomic Punch, or even have the Heavy fully stop trying to catch his breath, although since many players have a disdain for not being able to move, the former would be better. Personally, I don't know whether this should be an exclusive or regular. I merely thought up the concept.
