Pretty sure, the falling damage has a hard cap.
I think it's logaritmic, to be honest.
I need a rocket jumper so I can make myself the most useless soldier ever. Stainless Pot + Rocket Jumper + Gunboats + Frying Pan.
The -100 health just sweetens the idea :v:
All right, I want to get this straight. When the Rocket Jumper was first released, the only thing it could do is have the Soldier wielding it take no damage from his own rockets, purely for rocket-jumping, and the negative effect was that he couldn't damage any enemies with it either. Now, Valve adds another negative effect where equipping the Rocket Jumper will take away 100 on the Soldier's max health? Bullshit move, Valve. The smart thing to do would be to completely remove the Rocket Jumper and Sticky Jumper (If one even exists, because I haven't seen evidence of one yet) and put in a command where the server owner or part of a map's coding will activate the effects of the Rocket and Sticky Jumpers, but without the extremely useless and annoying health reduction, and it will also restrict the use of other weapons. Nobody likes to get killed on surf maps and jump maps, do they?
Now I'm a bit more peeved I got a RJ instead of a black box on my first craft. I didn't even know the thing was craftable when I did the craft.

don't know about you but i just don't see why anyone would use the rocket jumper, now that it has -100health its all the more reason not to even look at it.
i mean, even before that, you can exercise rocket jumping with the regular rocket launcher, and then there is the black box too. never got it, it seems pretty OP, especially since i am pretty dangerous with the normal rocket launcher too
Seriously who would buy the rocket jumper for TRAINING?

Black Box is definitely NOT OP. +15 isn't that much hp, that's about how much damage a single pistol shot does at close range. And the 4th rocket is very valuable.
They should remove the health con. Period. I thought it'd be a really useful item (same for the sticky jumper) until they removed a giant chunk of my health. Now it's practically worthless.
Once again, I hate SPUF.
SPUF is worst tf2 community
Valve stop listening to a bunch of babies
still worth the fifty cents i threw at it for a few hours of fun and a couple good .dem recordings.

i did

Valve stop listening to a bunch of babies
shit like this proves that valve games have the worst fans. i hate them and they ruin every valve game they touch (cs, tf2, l4d series).
BAW BAW MY WEAPON WAS NERFED FUCK YOU VALVE
For fuck's sake shut up you're way more retarded.

I browse SPUF occasionally and the only comments I ever saw on the RJ was that it was useless or needed a buff, never that it needed a nerf.
And I assume the health penalty was added to get the point across that it's supposed to be a training weapon, and not to be used in actual gameplay.

Yet they make it craftable/findable thus resulting in a training item that 90% of the populace won't use? Makes very little sense to me.

Just like I said on the previous page, it would be easier to just remove the two explosive-jumping items and make it so they are the only things that can be used on surf maps or jump maps or on a server where people just go to have fun and hang out instead of killing each other all the time.

Well if somebody does want it they're no longer forced to purchase it. I guess a downside is that if you're trying to craft a black box you have the chance of getting a rocket jumper, but I think that's more indication of the problems of crafting than the RJ itself.
