A Pyro shooting water? What about replacing water by... erm.. napalm? Or Gasoline? Like a flamethrower that would have a massive range, has a massive fall-off but a stronger afterburn. Or a similar concept like the Frikin Flamer on Weaponizer where M2 shoots combustible liquid, soaking players in gasoline (dark brown jarate overlay on screen) and M1 is quite weak alone but pressing M2+M1 would ignite and make the concept above. I dunno, M2 in this concept would combo well with the Neon but wouldn't have airblast. Maybe nearby explosive projectiles would ignite soaked enemies for a very short afterburn? [sub]I know they were joking in the posts but I felt like it could be a nice suggestion... :>[/sub]

But it's alt-attack is just spraying water. It makes enemies wet (hello, NA) and that's it. But it shoots water and still extinguishes allies.

I think the problem with new flamethrower unlock ideas is that most of them remove air blast. Given that we already have one such flamethrower (Phlog), it'd be nice for balance's sake to see one that either focuses on airblasting in a major way (longer range, higher MvM power, farther pushing, etc), or one that replaces M1 fire with something else altogether. Personally I like the idea of an orange and white (painted like the jumpers) flamethrower-shaped primary which sucks enemies towards you from a decent distance with M1, and has increased power M2 air blast. No actual ammo needed, just 2 power bars, one for suck and one for blow. From full, lets say you have like 4 uses of each, and it recharges at a rate of 0 to 100% in say.....12 seconds. If you're spamming non-stop, that gives you a RoF of 1 use of one type per 3 seconds. *PULL*.....1.....2.....3......*PULL*.....1.....2.....3.....*PULL*. Maybe increase it to 16 seconds per full bar, but I wouldn't go much farther than making you wait 4 seconds inbetween uses when stuff like sollys spamming rockets is a thing. Mostly, I just wouldn't want the pull function to be spammed. From full bar, you could use all 4 uses in a row as well, if that wasn't clear. The idea here would be that you have to concentrate on either using your shoty to do damage, and have something like powerjack as health utility, or use flaregun to ignite then swap to axti to finish. Basically, it would mean instead of pulling off easy puff'n'stings at close range, you could yank snipers off their perches from mid range, swap to flare, shoot, then swap to axti for the finish. It would allow more advanced kills that simple puff'n'sting, but would require a much harder combo to pull off. The "flame"thrower itself would just generally be an interesting utility, and could have fun MvM prospects. Thoughts?

One of the most-oft requested alt fire is a "fireblast" of sorts. I got bored one day a couple years ago and implemented it. It was basically a weak rocket that had an arc not unlike the grenade projectile. On-contact it would detonate, dealing splash damage and inflicting afterburn. I gave it a steep cost, about 25% of the max ammo capacity. And I called it a day. Trade countering, player positioning control, and afterburn neutralization for ranged offensive power and mobility at the cost of health. Then of course they just slapped the airblast on the Backburner and never touched it again.

Some people make model and then try to create stats to it, some have some gameplay idea and create its design guiding by that idea. I've decided that I'll model some flamethrower basing on vacuum cleaner and some other homemade things. The very first version of it was a union of blender and vacuum cleaner, which was shooting by... glass dust. It was chewing pieces of glass and make some kind of dust cloud making enemies bleed. As secondary fire it had reversal airblast, pulling enemies and projectiles my way (they would not deal damage to your teammates and deal -25% damage). At first I wanted to make the legendary Greece fire (the legendary fire which cannot be extinguished by water). There even was thing called "Longburner". It was working on benzine and spraying enemies with it caused extension of burning duration. Or set them on fire when attacked by bullets. Then Southern Hospitality added bleeding feature and so I began working in that direction. The idea of another fire or glass dust seemed... weird. I began working out something different. I've noticed that car washing devices (Kercher or something?) and tried to combine these things. I went to that state as you've seen it above. On primary fire it would use the water bottle adding there some acid from the washing soap reservoir. Making enemies wet - just to make invisible spies slightly visible and tracking others, but this is not the reason of it's being. Major idea was to make a flamethrower which could set enemies on fire without giving them opportunity to extinguish with jars. Plus with Flaregun you could double that damage (fire + bleeding).
