So what have I missed in TF2 besides Valve buying out reddit? I've been gone since last month because Garry went on a banning rampage
Well im pretty sure them buyign reddit was just a april fools joke. Poker night 2 is officialyl announced.
Did you all know that apparently the Poker Night 2 promos were community made by the user who made The Hibernating Bear/Heavy Fairy sets?
I was aware of this...
It was a commission by Telltale
Glad you like the flexes :) getting them right took ages... more time than all of the other items combined.
Also massive thanks go to Neodement and Treythepunkid for helping me with compiling flexes. They both spent literally hours of their time helping me sort out issues while I couldn't even tell them what I was working on. They rock!

I can't say I've ever been a fan of your work, but those flexes are really, really impressive. Great job.
So lets recap:
New flame thrower, third misc slot, dispenser hats and nutmeg.
So far this next major update looks dandy.
Third misc slot? what?
Third misc slot? what?
It was presumed when we saw three miscs equipped from a screen of Rift Headset gameplay released from Valve's video.

Wait, what new flamethrower? Was it somewhere on the April Fools book that I skimped by?
Wait, what new flamethrower? Was it somewhere on the April Fools book that I skimped by?
The grief thrower thing.

... Are you saying that this file:

That you asked for facial flex help with ages ago, is actually a promo item and has been sitting on my harddrive for 2 months without me knowing it was? Jesus, Ruskey. Sneaky. :v:
[editline]3rd April 2013[/editline]
I still want the Firkin flamer ingame, with the same stats from Advanced Weaponizer.

- Alt-Fire: Leak oil, which can be ignited
- -90% afterburn duration
I'd use the fuck out of this thing.
Not with those stats, but yes, it'd be awesome.
So are we still expecting Reddit items? It seems like the time for Valve to be relevant has passed (though that has never stopped them before).
You guys do know the reddit items were a joke right?
Thus why they said
"In celebration of our Reddit purchase, we're going to add some new Reddit-themed items to the game. There's also plenty of neat stuff we're working on and would love to tease. But realistically, because today is the International Day of Foolishness, anything we told you guys would just be met with suspicion."
But that could be reference to the Lecture valley stuff.

If anything, It seems whenever Valve does something on April 1st, It's real. Jarate, Potato Sack, etc. Why would the Reddit items be any different?
Or they could do a blog post, with something special like a Mann Co comic or the like, hidden away in a full stop, leaving the Reddit thing as a false trail.
It was presumed when we saw three miscs equipped from a screen of Rift Headset gameplay released from Valve's video.
though it may be some weird weapon or gamemode.
though it may be some weird weapon or gamemode.
The head might but the demo clearly has 3 miscs.
The beard, the cape the battery grenades.
Somebody post a picture with some red circles.
If they were we would have pictures alongside the announcement.

I'm thinking the Easter Island head is a back-worn shield.
I'm thinking the Easter Island head is a back-worn shield.
Probably. Doing 4 cosmetic items it unlikely but 5? Thats as possible as having a jar of bodily excrement as a weapon.
You guys should definitely grab the Humble Tripwire Bundle it's pretty damn great value even if you already have killing floor. You get all the DLC Characters/an extra copy for a friend or even just the soundtrack is worth it. Red Orchestra is also great and I think getting it widely distributed is a great idea now that Rising Storm is coming (Maybe Promos?).
Anyway Lt. Bites was emphasized in the blog post! I hope he makes a return or get's in game in some way.

We would if someone posted a link *cough*

They even said after that
And when have we ever trolled our community? Never, that's when. Okay, maybe that one time.
and linked to the jarate page. They were "trolling" us then, but that was real. Is trolling just Valve's way of saying the truth?
[thumb]http://imgur.com/hV4M9ll.png[/thumb]
Think I could get a link to this video? I'm not sure where to look.

We don't have the dog yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if for that session, Valve just outright removed the cosmetics limit, perhaps to test clipping with new items.
They tend to completely disable certain restrictions so they have more debugging freedom.

They wouldn't tease us like that right? Right?

That wasn't an april fools joke though
Actually, it makes me think they removed the limit to test large numbers of items with the new full body awareness system the Rift gives, making sure none clip the view particularly badly.
Makes the most sense to me anyway. All of those items are pretty much right near where the VR viewport is attached. "It looks fine normally, but how's it look from firstperson?" etc.
Bandolier: Making sure chest-mounted items don't clip the view when looking down
Beard: Making sure facial items correctly derender when in VR mode, and making sure the smoke doesn't obscure view
Cape: Making sure shoulder-mounted items don't clip the view when looking down or crouching
Hat: Making sure hats correctly derender when in VR mode
Statue: Making sure that back-mounted items don't clip the view when looking up or down while crouched

they'd probably say if they were testing shit.
they'd probably say if they were testing shit.
Why? Why're they obligated to share the entirety of their debug process with everybody? :|
They test shit all the time behind closed doors, from new items to grand-scheme game balance tweaks. It's just that this is the first time we've really been given a peek at it.
(This is assuming the images shown were from TF2's closed beta, which still operates alongside the open one and has more devoted testers.)
