I can understand his hatred towards those that use adblock on every single website when the purpose of it was to block the most annoying adverts, such as pop-ups. Running an extremely popular website isn't exactly cheap. Especially if you have either a low or small income, especially how some people turn these kind of things into a job or profession.
Outright redirecting, blocking or rejecting visitors is something that's just not defensible though.
People can get around it and still freely block the ads by just avoiding the redirect, masking their plugins, or using a proxy. It's incredibly easy.
Doing this while currently riding high atop a wave of criticism and distrust due to price fixing allegations won't do them any favors either. Makes them look greedy...

Whenever you're asked to sign something, just assume they're going to do this always, and make a mental assessment of how much it will make you shake your head versus how much you don't care.
If it's ever closer to the former than the latter, don't bother.
