There we go
actually I think a program that temporarily edits $color2 was done before iirc
Its perfectly possible to edit the vmts on the fly, the only issue here is extracting everymodel from the GCF if its not in the /tf/ directory, in order to find what vmts it uses, copy those to /tf/ and then have the app edit them at will to change the $color2 parameter. The main issue there is that if the user closes the app without notice, it would leave those edited vmts in his /tf/ directory basically messing up any item's VMT he loaded, I would have a button to delete those temporary VMTs which only serve to display the paint color in hlmv, but the user HAS to close the app properly so it deletes those, I would put a warning before exit I guess. But its quite messy/sloppy to have to do all of that, hell VALVE give us the HLMV source already.
Because aside of being the stupidest stat suggestion I've ever heard, it doesn't really fit the theme of an olive drab army/rebel set. Also, The Misc: Combat boots, pockets, a bandanna and a holster.
I really, really dig those kinds of shoes.
Tired of searching models through the terrible HLMV browser? tired of editing the registry to attach multiple models to a TF2 character? No more! TF2MV will do it for you in a few clicks! Easily pick items from the item schema to attach to a character, you can also define custom model path! I dropped them in the tf directory guessing that the resource folders were the same, and when I click the .exe it doesn't do anything. What am I doing wrong?
Where do I place the files? I dropped them in the tf directory guessing that the resource folders were the same, and when I click the .exe it doesn't do anything. What am I doing wrong?
The tool doesn't really read any model file, it does nothing of VMTs yet either, it simply sets ups the model attachements from HLMV by simply giving the model paths. If you mean to copy VMTs to get the paint color working, extract them with GCF escape in the same structure they are to the "tf" directory like: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\steam_username\Team Fortress 2\tf\" For example lets say it attach the batter's helmet but its not painted, the model is "models/player/items/scout/batter_helmet.mdl" so I'll most likley find its materials in the GCF in "materials\models\player\items\scout\" I copy those to the "team fortress 2\tf\" directory, with those directories too: materials\models\player\items\scout\batter_helmet_blue.vmt materials\models\player\items\scout\batter_helmet_red.vmt Then I edit the vmt and use the $color2 parameter to force paint and once edited refresh in HLMV with F5 to reload the materials. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you meant to attach custom models you place them in /tf/ an then you set the model path here and then click Add.
