Well, if it helps, I own a wooden cane myself. Don't use it too often, only for special occasions.
The thing is, yours... is, well, I can't see any of the marks on it that a normal wooden cane would have.
Knots in the wood, grain, maybe a minor bit of insect damage if the original bit of wood was on the ground for a bit before being picked up. I think if you added a little bit of that, it would make it look more 'woody'.

Okay, so looking through it a bit, I'm still not sure if I can use $sequence events to spawn props, but I think I did find particle spawning. In any case, I'll probably shoot an email off to a few Valve folk to see if they can enlighten me on whether or not it's possible.
However, I'm not going to bother wasting my time (or theirs) if nobody is interested. I am willing to do all the backbone work to make animations work in the engine and (maybe) get a client side release that functions this time. Valve updated a few things, so it may be possible without a serverside mod this time. So, I'm offering the engine side of things, but I will need a confirm from [B]capable and willing animators if I'm going to go forward on this project.[/B]. Hype is nice and all, but I need somebody who can do the animations since I am unable to. It will be a collaborative effort, no doubt. And, if nobody is interested, I understand--it simply means the project isn't meant to be.
Hecates, I think you said you were interested--did you just mean as a project follower, or did you mean you'd be willing to animate.
And an additional note; I have no particular animation ideas in mind, that's something you will have to take care of yourself. Come up with ideas on your own or get them from the community. I'm not looking to get some of my ideas created--I'm just offering assistance on getting others to fruition.

Is there some convenient method by which I could do this? That is, replace the Shred Alert guitar model with the FJ taunt one, for all classes? Even disregarding my pedantic obsession with vanilla-like esthetics I think acoustic shredding would look funny.
