Paint and fire overlay are examples of receiving inputs. The game gives a material proxy an input for a certain color, and this is translated to the value of "$color2". If proxies worked in HLMV somehow, we could theoretically on the fly input values and have them apply instantly. Same with fire overlay. The default value for parameter "$detailblendfactor" is .01. This parameter is, however, controlled through proxies, and in game the default input is 0, thus why it doesn't show up in game. When a player is set on fire, the value increases and it becomes much more opaque. If we could control proxies through HLMV, a simple input of "0" would be all that's needed to disable the fire overlay.

I think a potato head would make a nice pyro mask. Especially if glasses and whatnot had pegs to connect to pyro. Like mr potato head
so i'm usin itemtest (yeah yeah i know). but the transparency doesnt work correctly [t]http://puu.sh/1Zatd[/t] obsidian_2 is the vmt with $translucent 1. everytime i view it in the test hlmv, the whole thing is kinda transparent. am i using some wrong settings? also, does it matter if i use the tf2 importer for weapons? do i just change something after it compiles? edit: ok it seems it only uses 2 materials, but i have 3. 1 for red, 1 for blu and 1 for the transparent glass
