Is there a way to have a firing animation added to a mod? Say for the crossbow I am designing, is there anyway I can have the limbs spread out when I fire and retract when I reload?
I'm beginning work on a weapon project that contains some idle animations and possible unique sounds.
The whole concept of it being animated beyond having bones is a little frighting to me. Anyone have any advice on how to work with it?
I understand the lack of interest Valve tends to have with custom animations, but I'm really excited about this project and looking to do something pretty intense. Animations wouldn't be more than a second or two, a little swaying or movement.

got a little... uh... inebriated last night and drew some shit, 3 of which were concepts for weapons seen in the mid-top section
i don't know what they are, or what class, but i drew them
they are also uncertainly claimed by an unnamed benefactor until further notice, so stop hitting on me, you silly boys~

That HM draw, also i liked the Megaman helmet. If someone make a megabuster mod for Cow Mangler, i think the helmet could fit

Yes it would, I went for coloured one because the white one looked rather ugly, also might be an excuse but it's a gnomegineer not some garden gnome, so I thought it might also make difference.

I think you need to work on the beard color. It's way to grey at the moment. Isn't the engineer blonde?

I actually still have my old Megabuster Scattergun. I really want to change it up over the Cow Mangler, now.

Since I got the banhammer 3 days ago with no warning (thanks to whoever that was) I lost my question post.
Whats the easiest TF2 item to start off practising w/ 3D modeling? Weapon? Hat? Misc?

Its possible, how difficult it is, is an entirely different question. a few mods/reskins have custom reload animations.

spark was considering having it on and folded but since the cleaners carbine already has that we both agreed it was better to just not include it

definitely hats, at least for me. with weapons its hard to tell whether or not it will clip whenever a certain animation plays and theyre a bitch to compile for the workshop. misc usually require some amount of rigging just to look right on the player, depending on what it is. hats are just hats. just make sure it doesnt clip with the head, maybe add team colors and paint-ability and youre pretty much good to go.
