[QUOTE=EDDY TT;21269093]I have a few issues with [url=http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2319552/emp_perm.png]that[/url] current layout. Want me to make a mockup of what I think could be done to improve it? And yes, please add youtube embedding, or a bbcode system.[/QUOTE] A mockup would be greatly appreciated. And yes, I'll figure out something for Youtube embedding. [editline]02:51PM[/editline] [QUOTE=Frying Dutchman;21269015]The file size maybe? And a nice shiny button that says download.[/QUOTE] I think I've set the file size limit to 5 MB, is this enough? Also, yes, more prominent download button is on the way. [editline]02:53PM[/editline] [QUOTE=swampie;21269141]What do you consider this?[/QUOTE] That's kind of a 3-second reskin. I think I'm going to put some limitations on the quality of submissions. The skins section will allow reskins, obviously, but not 3-second recolors and whatnot. I'll have to set some guidelines in place. [editline]02:54PM[/editline] [QUOTE=Mexican;21268456]Wow, this layout is slick! [editline]12:20PM[/editline] Also bold the parts with the name and date so they're more visually separated.[/QUOTE] I'll do something to visually separate them.
Oh by the way, about your log in bar, I think it would be better if it was off to the side and fully visible. Sort of like FPSBanana's, which is the only part of the site that's done good.
Oh, one more thing; I'll have a comments rating system, agree or disagree. It'll be like the Youtube comment system, but with more intelligence. -- Augh, my automerge! :argh:
[QUOTE=Galago;21270095]Oh, one more thing; I'll have a comments rating system, agree or disagree. It'll be like the Youtube comment system, but with more intelligence.[/QUOTE] Don't do that, instead do only a positive rating. Negative ratings always lead to flaming and dumb shit. So like for example people can approve the comment and give it more credibility but a bunch of dumbasses won't negative bomb stuff they disagree with.

[QUOTE=Galago;21270287]So, a star rating for "quality post"?[/QUOTE] Yeah that would be good And there could be an option to sort through ones with most stars Basically I feel positivity can be handed out anonymously because it simply states "I agree", but negativity should be put in comments so they can specify exactly why the disagree with another comment.
[QUOTE=Galago;21269939] I think I've set the file size limit to 5 MB, is this enough? Also, yes, more prominent download button is on the way.[/QUOTE] I'll raise that up a bit, but not much.
I'll be adding a gold medal rating for "quality post", and an exclamation rating for "mark as spam".
As in we don't need GB to upload, but 7 MB seems good. [editline]09:08PM[/editline] My automerge D:
I'll get a mockup done then when I've finished this essay.
[QUOTE=IdleTard;21270398]As in we don't need GB to upload, but 7 MB seems good. [editline]09:08PM[/editline] My automerge D:[/QUOTE] Yeah, 7 is what I was thinking originally. I'll have to buy server space anyway, now that my friend who was my host abandoned me, but that's alright. [editline]03:45PM[/editline] Also, WIP comments rating system. [IMG]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2319552/emp_comments_rating.png[/IMG]
I think the comments would look nicer if you bolded the date and name [IMG]http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii173/AAOMGiZL/bolded.jpg[/IMG] It kind of breaks it up and separates it
Just a question: will the site feature only released and finished content? Or do we get to see WIP's and maybe tutorials on how to do it yourself? Seeing how things get done in the Mod emporium and how it looks when its finished has always been one of the main reason I kept coming back.
[b][i](4/9/10)[/i] Galago:[/b] Wow, this hat is slick! Would be better imo
I wish I could be a mod, this site looks the shit, I've got a lot of spare time. :frown:
are you going to have a litle thing like a check box as to what it includes backpack icons ect
I can mod :downs: [editline]10:17PM[/editline] I think.
[QUOTE=AlfieGroove;21272503][B][I](4/9/10)[/I] Galago:[/B] Wow, this hat is slick! Would be better imo[/QUOTE] Will do. [editline]05:29PM[/editline] [QUOTE=BaronVonFail;21272911]are you going to have a litle thing like a check box as to what it includes backpack icons ect[/QUOTE] Possibly. Normally, one would just add that in the description.
[QUOTE=Galago;21273120] Possibly. Normally, one would just add that in the description.[/QUOTE] oh good point. x3
[img]http://horobox.reager.org/u/90-214-15-96_1270996645.png[/img] I already love the current idea I just think it needed some tweaking, if you can do something like that, it would work nicely. And to be honest it should be piss, its just css3 options. Also to do the bbcode, have your submission text area linked up to a script with a tag converter, eg. [b] gets converted into <b> then sent to the mysql database, for youtube you can do [embed] and what the url is, is then placed in the embed src like: <embed src="url here" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed> Sure its not valid html but it will work for now. The other alternative is have a submission box just for the youtube url which will show up under the description in a collapseable window, this might be easier and cleaner to do.

The plus/minus ratings are for individual comments. Also, comments won't have pages, they'll just continue stretching the page. [editline]06:15PM[/editline] I'll probably enclose the description in a different colored box, though.

[QUOTE=EDDY TT;21274102]That will get awfully messy and make the loading time on the pages quite heavy if it has a lot of comments.[/QUOTE] Yeah, that's true.
[QUOTE=Galago;21274115]Yeah, that's true.[/QUOTE] Do Facepunch's system of having the icons only appear when you hover over the comment.
I'd highly suggest taking my idea of comment pages, or have it only show the latest 5 or 7.
Don't have a next use a down arrow, like an iframe of sorts containing all the comments. [editline]11:44PM[/editline] as for reag stop with the thinking you know web design (ur terrrible sry) [editline]11:46PM[/editline] don't outline the comments, especially with a glow it takes the focus away from the main subject (the hat), keep focus on the picture of the hat, the description and the download button (i suggest putting it below description.)

From my experience, iframes get messy and they're inconvenient to work with; instead, I'll have comment pages loaded with Ajax. 2. Is "reag" EDDY TT? 3. I understand the Team Fortress style, and how I like my shit designed. Trust me, I won't be adding glows on anything. 4. Yeah, sure, the download button can go under the description. That'd make good use of the space. 5. Finally, I have a certain idea for the extra images people can upload, and the Youtube video link. I'll post a concept image later tonight.
What kind of screening proces would there be to upload the mod? Because a good mod would be made, And a release date of say... 12th april, He submits it and it comes out 30th...
1. by iframes of sorts I meant that kinda, as if it'd scroll down but not actually make the page any longer 2. reag is eddy tt 3. good. 4. yep 5. I'd suggest putting a little icon for youtube on the actual picture at the bottom right, then clicking it would bring up an ajax window with the youtube video embedded in it. possibly make more use of the photo and have arrows to scroll through the different pictures with ajax then another little icon beside the youtube one to bring up the high res version of it. CSS, overflow: auto; we're not in the 90's parky. 2. :bravo: 3. I like css3, hit me. 4. I was thinking the optional youtube screen should go there and the download under the hat preview.
