Just seems like the spot to ask, but I've been paranoid about trading since reading horror stories like xolo's where people got their accounts fucked over because someone just [i]accused[/i] them of scamming to valve, does anyone have a source of some kind of something like valve officially saying that your account/items are the users' own responsibility, that they don't do that anymore? Or just some well crafted words to persuade me to trade?

That isn't very common, and it's happening less often. You shouldn't worry at all.
There is little one can do to curb the chance of being wrongfully accused of trade "fraud".
If your paranoia is debilitating, try to organize trades via PM on facepunch or the steam forums. Then you will have a form of evidence that can't be edited by yourself or the trade partner. That's something.
