He's trying to keep his advantage over the situation. I'd do the same thing. If I saw a sniper run at me with his potentially one-shot killing machete, I'd stay back.

And i foresee a mod/map in the future where all are frozen and invincible when a melee dare is made and accepted except the two dueling. so awesome.
It's hilarious seeing people panic when I ambush them as a melee scout. It's why I prefer pubbing over clan servers.
Of course, the fun ends when the snipers whip out their kukris. No other class does that and the Kukris always get crits on me.
