Using multicore rendering without a multicore CPU will cause stability issues.
Windows 98 is what the gangsters use.
Gangsters use Xenix.
If I try to use it with mine it causes unbearable lag/time-outs for some reason
It's unstable
It's unstable
On SOME configurations.
My Q6600/Vista 32 bit loves it.
Ever since the multi-core update I get crashes on map-change.
It doesn't make a difference on my system and causes lag on my roommates system.
You can try it but it's still rather glitchy and doesn't work well for everyone which is why they give you the option to have it off.

Do you use skins or model changes?
I have it enabled and it works perfectly.

Is that what fucking causes it?!? Argh I'll turn multi-core rendering off then, it's not as I've even noticed a difference I mean all it seems to have done is taken me from Core 0 - 95-100% and Core 1,2,3 - <5% to Core 0 - 80% and Core 1,2,3 - 50-100% doesn't make any gameplay difference either which is a shame as I have few games that can make use of my Q6600.

Yes, but I play on sv_pure servers
Try uninstalling the skins. I used... three or four, and I'd crash on mapchange. At one point it got bad enough that it was any time I'd be "disconnected" from the server. Disconnected being a loose term that I was no longer actively playing on the server, be it through disconnect, quit, or mapchange. A friend suggested I uninstall/delete the skins, and try again.
I've not crashed since.
i too have enabled it on my quad core pc
it works fine ^.^
and stops frame lag on the koth harvest map '': )

well, Bio's post did.
How do I enable multicore?
what does it do? it makes you feel cool when you enable it, just like when you equip the medal.
It increases my FPS but it makes my movement feel sorta choppy.
I have dual core. When I am using this option, my FPS drops by 5 to 10 frames from its usual.
Why did you dig this up from the grave?

(Late) halloween celebrations
Interesting because My 8 core I7 Monster has only a 2.3 ghz per core. but i can run everything at fill even with just a 4850 and 3gb of ram.

4 core's you mean :P
4 core's you mean :P
4 cores capable of doing two things each. So it's pretty much 8.
Granted it's not actually 8 but it's the equivalent of having 8 despite the number actually being 4.

It's 4 cores with hyperthreading, get this 8 core thing out of your head, only xeon's and server based cpu's go up to 8 cores.
It's still in beta, but Valve released it prematurely due to popular demand.
Valve just recently added it on the options, it was possible to use it even in the beta.
:sigh: I found out yesterday that I had Dual Core, now my pc doesn't even work anymore

ATI's planning a more than 4 core processor as a high end enthusiast solution
I have a quad core, and multi-core rendering makes the framerates go slightly sluggish.
Well if it's good with dual cores, and quad cores.. What about tri cores? Phenom x3 8550 to be exact..
