hoovybot legs!
after falling into a coma, i have finished this... just needs a head and its done current tricount is 1266
Your doing Gabe's work son...
i finished the head, but just as a note, i got my laptop up and running (after nearly a month of ordering parts, and working on it) so i will be working on this much more than i was before, because of the need to use it... although, i still have no idea if tf2 will even run on it even with the lowest graphics (i only just got the OS and antivirus running) either way, ima rig this, and post an image soon. [editline]16th January 2013[/editline] alright. just gonna drop this here Final tricount is 1423
the buildables need a retexture badly so i'm doing them
well, i figured out i can play tf2 on my lappy, at default settings, it crashed with some sort of vertex error, lowest settings, i got an average of 20-30 fps. with the pack, and mat_filtertextures 0, i got an average of 30-60 my resolution is about 720 wide or whatever the fack, either way, its not running great, i have random flashes of the entire or parts of the map flashing, and the skybox is all glitchy... tho all i ran it on was KOTH_King. Anyway my lappy works IT WORKS!!!!!
the buildables need a retexture badly so i'm doing them
That's weird, it sort of looks like mine but as if somebody removed the logos and made them brighter than they're supposed to be... and slapped random spec highlights in the middle. Is that your work? If so, sorry but it sucks. Post a side-by-side comparison. I do admit mine are far from perfect though, the edges are dark instead of highlighted and the pressure gauge is at a 45 degree slant on the UV (oops)
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/v0HY4.png[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/M90XN.png[/img_thumb] EDIT: side-by-side My dispenser has different hues and slightly higher saturation. Noticeably, your yellow is much brighter and so is the + on the tube. On both my RED and BLU dispensers, the metal and colors are sampled from the Medic backpack on Tom's lowpoly models. There's no unreadable, ugly blocky text or logos on my version. Furthermore, my level 3 dispenser buttons (at the top) have completely different textures and colors, and the black monitor has a brighter, more saturated green. The metal on the sides of my dispenser have a gradient, and there are no shadows on the bottom. You can't see it on this picture, but the "push" button is also completely different. The screen is darker and has a slightly saturated blue color, and the shadows on my texture, as well as my bottom compartment, differ from yours. My dispenser doesn't have a shine at the top for no reason, and does not have a huge shadow near the "provisions" logo. The biggest difference is the fact that my dispenser has the three buttons near the screen when it's upgraded, like the real Valve dispenser does. The only things that belong to you on this dispenser is the texture on the tube and knobs on the left as well as the grill, but I can retexture those if you desire. (I obviously needed some kind of texture for the lowpoly model to use as a base) I thought I could do a favor for this project, but if people don't want them I'll keep it for my personal use.
dang my texture's way worse than I remember. However I don't agree that removing the logos was a good idea, it feels like something's missing without them. I'd still remove the painted on spec shines you've done too, just keep the ones on the edges and remove phong from the VMT though (it's meant to be removed on mine but Insanicide turned it on, like every low poly model it looks a lot worse with phong).
However I don't agree that removing the logos was a good idea, it feels like something's missing without them.
i agree completely with this statement, as it does look like something is missing, what i would do, if i had paint dot net installed (cant at the moment need to install vista service pack 1) is paint over the logo's so they dont look blurry and then add those layers to your texture
Toned down the shininess on the texture, and got rid of unnecessary ones that didn't help with depth. I turned off phong and changed up the shadows a little bit. The tank on the left side has been completely redone, and uses proper Cream Spirit colors. Notably, the gauge is rounded and less jagged. The pipes and and valves are more gray instead of black, like the Valve dispenser. I did my own grill texture on level 2, so it's not NeoDement's anymore. I tried to do my own Provisions and RED team logo, so tell me how that is. Turns out, my second monitor that I use to texture is less bright and has a slight yellow hue to it. A combination of HLMV's light and my monitor made the dispenser come out more bright and orange than it should be. I'm going to fix that.
lovely work, both of you! thing is, about the bots, are valve servers sv pure? would low poly robots work in mann up or get forced back to default?
lovely work, both of you! thing is, about the bots, are valve servers sv pure? would low poly robots work in mann up or get forced back to default?
aawwhh, yeah, i forgot about that.... i had that problem while i was working with my zombies... well, im not gonna stop, even thogh that huge blaring problem will make these barely useable
aawwhh, yeah, i forgot about that.... i had that problem while i was working with my zombies... well, im not gonna stop, even thogh that huge blaring problem will make these barely useable
well there are still plenty of custom servers that run mvm boot camp regardless
lovely work, both of you! thing is, about the bots, are valve servers sv pure? would low poly robots work in mann up or get forced back to default?
Valve servers have not been sv_pure for quite some time. I even recently played a round of Mann Up to test out the TF2 Oldschool Pack.
It's funny. The Provisions sign on these old-school dispensers are clearer than the actual signs.
My Provisions logo was more readable >_>
Weren't you upset at me because I used your work?
not at all
The dispenser texture is pretty much done. I'm going to release them, but keep in mind it's just a texture, so the bugs are still there. The dispenser screen doesn't stretch to fill the entire screen part of the texture, and I don't know how to change that. (I tried editing obj_dispenser.res, but that doesn't change its actual size) Also, the screen gets completely cut in half on level 2, and dispenser_lvl3_light.mdl appears to be horizontally flipped for no reason. Happens on both my dispenser and NeoDement's, so those are model problems. I turned mipmapping off and level of detail off on the dispenser blueprint, like it should be. It doesn't get blurry if you use low mat_picmip settings. Phong is also turned off. It has updated models with fingers and facial expressions, that includes lip sync, so it's a nice aesthetics upgrade if your computer can deal with it. No more paper hands and blank staring. im to tired to fuck with photobucket anyore [sp]im litterally having a hard time keeping my jaw from hanging open, thats how tired i am[/sp] OOOOOH NEO, its READY woooo... relative texture size is the same on the individual parts, but because theres more, its 128x256, or the other way around.... its like the default tf2 player model textures where the wide is bigger then the tall .... oh, and i cant get pointsample to work because paint dot net's plugin is shite, and i cant get vtfedit working..... [sp]check the dropbox when ur ready[/sp]
So guys this looks awesome and will truly help with my crap tf2, but can someone post a link for the newest pack? I dont know where the link is. Your help is appreciated ;D
lemme compile a new setup with the newest stuff, but for the time being, have some images of this stuff i re-uv-ed the sniper hands so when they are textured they look better, and the texture is courtesy of snowshoe, and i ended up screwing up, and mirrored the hands.... and i made the demoman version of this iteration of first person hands, i butchered snowshoe's amazingly wonderful texture, and did my best to make it look decent and a screenshot from snowshoe http://i.imgur.com/5b8UC53.png

When this is finished, I'd really like to see it on the workshop, not for getting it into TF2, for obvious reasons, but because I'd hate to see about 10 copies of everyone's hard work being slapped on there in low detail squished Jpg'd images from some Russian claiming it as their work. [editline]24th January 2013[/editline] Besides, having it on the workshop will make it more popular, and more people will get to enjoy it. Download links being on the same page will also hopefully reduce the horrid 'VALVE ADD IT NOW' comments too.
I'll texture it when the robotic bologna is over lol
I was thinking of making some stuff for this, but my laptop can barely run tf2 even with the low poly pack, and I'm too lazy to drive to my house just to make stuff for it :(
I Want to help. Are there any items that havent been done? take note, i have Never made a tf2 mod before, so i'll need help from the pros, if you're willing
I was thinking of making some stuff for this, but my laptop can barely run tf2 even with the low poly pack, and I'm too lazy to drive to my house just to make stuff for it :(
hey, im working on my laptop, every update i posted after the heavy-bot has been from my laptop, although, i can probably run tf2 better than you can, i get 15-30 frames without the pack, on lowest settings, and 30-50 with the pack as it is now
