i have a feeling valves just going to choose the top 6 rated all time items for every class every time theres an update. which kinda sucks since now youve gotta have thousands of votes just to get there.
i guess i really gotta step my game up
edit: ah i forgot those items are really old and had tons of time to gather votes. so i guess it wont be bad once all those really old and good items sitting in the workshop finally get added.
based on all of this it looks like it's going to shape up to be a good update

Something about the wording of "we've been able to select a whopping 64 Gold Star items" sounds to me like they were just referring to cosmetics, unless they wanted to surprise us?
I think it's the fact that the only Gold Star items they've directly referenced were cosmetics, so it seems almost implied by the fact that they didn't make mention of it.

Based on votes.... I find it really hard to get support for a lot of the things I make. Whereas people that are well known (like sexy or psyke or ducksink) get votes like they are gods (and no im not saying anything abd about you guys).
If the system is going to be based on a popularity contest, how will the little guys like me be able to compete?

Yes. I agree. It is completely unfair. All these kids see a gasmask or a pet or something with a skull on it they upvote it. [I]Add this now Valve cus its epic![/I] personally like your Eyelander sheath. its perfect. It is not flashy enough for the people I guess. It should just go by how reasonable it is. Valve should hand pick. Not the kids who upvote every sniper rifle.

I think and hope they look at the vote ratio VS views ratio, some items just don't get votes because at a certain time there wasn't as many people checking out the workshop or many items getting posted and only some getting visibility in the 9 top rated all week.
How is something classed as a gold star item? I haven't played TF2 in ages but these balancing fixes might bring me back.

Gold star items are just models imported using the new tools ingame. Far easier for Valve to test items and such.

I'm pretty sure they do since they commented on my Medic coat when it had 4 stars, 98-99% upvote rate (5 MaxOfS2D haters :v:) and <200 votes.
