The test for today has concluded. 4 items were given out in the testing period. These numbers seem smaller than they should be, but there is still one thing that we're going to try. Thanks to everyone that has tested, the server and client will both be available for everyone to use tomorrow

Idler2 is no longer available. Check the OP.
I'm not saying you shouldn't use it, but wouldn't Valve just do the same thing as the last idler? Might test this out anyway
I will not use this idler at all. However, I applaud the effort you guys are making. You guys have balls putting yourselves on the line like this.
Interesting, I see why you would want to try this again, and I see you don't really care for the consequences too much, which is a good thing as there are bound to be some :v: So long as this isn't posted on the Steam forums like the last one was, or the TF2 team don't come snooping for whatever reason I could see this being very effective, and your testing seems to show some pretty good results compared to the old idler. Whatever would we do without OpenSteamworks.
How do I compile the project?
I would use it but i have recently gotten back into tf2 :frown: [sp] ATTENTION: Idler shut down, all good players rewarded JESUS BEARD[/sp]
I'm not to sure about this, after the last idle thing and Valve expressing their veiws on 3rd party software. Are you sure this is safe? I don't want a repeat of last time.
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1027861 Nice going.
Ohh excellent work white knights of the Internet, you enjoy making peoples work pointless don't you?
http://www.assembla.com/wiki/show/steamworks/Idler_2
That was the point. -.- [editline]09:30PM[/editline] Which twat posted it on the SteamForums? An admin said this
Thanks for the links.
So basically Valve know about it. I wasn't going to use it, but frankly he's still an idiot.
People are sort of dicks about this. Valve shouldn't care. I must say though, that I commend you, OP, for creating this.
Valve have already known about OSW. On the off chance that they never noticed: Jesus christ they must be blind, it's not like it was kept a huge secret.
Its their own damn fault, they just want more people banned, because of Valve. They made the damned system, and even said they regreted it. Anyways VoiD, I respect you. This is pretty good.
Guys, they wont VAC ban you. But they will take away any and all items you have and (I think) keep you from getting any new non achievement based items. They said this with the first item purge. IE: NO HAT FOR U!
Yeah, I really really want to try this out but Valve is already butthurt from the first item bullrush I got my tuque and brigade helm taken away. I'm not getting my legit hats taken now.
Yeah, but you have to see their point of view on this. They did for good reasons. To keep control of the tf2 based content to prevent any further use of phishers / trojans. To be able to control who gets what item and for what reason. Such as special items like bills hat, or the medal/website drop. To further their policy on unauthorized third party programs.
Valve almost drove over us and warned us if we did it again. Next time they probably won't warn us.
Second warning should be removal of all items. 3rd one is tough.
Second warning should be removal of all items. 3rd one is tough.
Second warning is removal of all items. Third is VAC ban. This is how it is already.
Fail. VAC ban is automatic, albeit delayed as to not give hackers real-time info, and is only issued when a hack is found that directly modifies RAM or hooks into the game. This does nothing of the sort, and therefore you will never be VAC banned for it.

This kind of information is spammed regularly on the steam-VAC forums if you are too lazy to even look up the proper info.

Nobody at Valve has ever pushed a VAC ban button without a hack being used. FYI, automatic doesn't mean that it's instantaneous.
