Advanced Mann-Conomy: How to idle with multiple accounts
2,129 replies, posted
Hey guys, so I started this and I got the blob error, I made a copy of my steam foldier with only steam.exe and my steamapps folder. I booted up steam just fine but this version of steam doesn't have tf2 installed, do I have to dl + install all over again?
@raBBish... HUGE thank you for your clarification. Now I need to ask a few more questions if you (or anyone else) do not mind please.
1.c.Remove all the other steamapps folders.
Question: I've decided to keep the default install directory intact for my main account that I use to play.... C:\program files (x86)\steam\ALL THE FOLDERS AND FILES INCLUDING STEAMAPPS. As such, does this apply to me?
1.d.Open cmd.exe as an administrator.
Not really a question... more of a here's-where-it-is-located for those of you who do not know (in Windows 7 64bit and maybe other versions of Windows as well)..... C:\windows\cmd.exe to execute it, right click it and run as administrator.
Again, I really appreciate your help :) Thank you!
1.c. Yes, it applies to you too. The other steamapps folders are removed because they will be replaced by links that lead to your main steamapps folder.
1.d. It's actually under Windows\System32. But what I usually do is type "cmd" in the Start menu search bar and launch it from there.

Search for cmd in the start menu then right click cmd.exe, should be there.
Search for cmd in the start menu then right click cmd.exe, should be there.
Windows 98, er um Windows 7, gotta love it! I've never tried that with a run command before in 7, always done in XP.... pretty neato! Thanks!
See? It's always the small things in life... lol.
Man that Nooch Army is nuts!
Crafting and selling metal takes way too much time. You could earn more if you just get a real job.
Of course a real job gets more money, but this guy isn't crafting the metal himself - its all automated. It automatically trades all crafted metal to the "NoochBot" account too, if he's doing it the way I saw someone else doing it. The accounts even comment on Nooch's main account every time they find a hat, automatically.

holy fuck that is awesome
Oh dear. I stumbled upon this and just for this thread I made an account on facepunch. How do I make it automated?
According to Valve, what I am doing is not allowed, and they blocked purchasing from my Paypal and/or credit card, except for on my main account.

Of course I didn't try to hide my inner intentions of being a baddy idler, but it still makes me mad.
Relevant to this topic I think? Don't know if worthy for a new thread. Just giving this info in case anyone else's Paypal gets blocked from Steam on your non-main account.
This guy has 253 accounts overall and I don't think Valve have done anything about him...

Apparently in 8 weeks he got 9300+ items, and calculated how much it cost him to run the 12 computers needed. Each item costs $0.009
I really don't get it why mklink is needed. Simple run steam.exe (with the TF2 shortcut info) through sandboxie (or a bat) from your main steam directory and log in with your idle information (or once again, using bat). It'll create an account name in your main steamapps, adds the TF2 files and launches TF2. Why is copy/pasting multiple steam folders even needed?
The old method that I used:
- Right click on my steam.exe shortcut (using -applaunch 440 -textmode -nosound -low -noipx -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw +map "itemtest")
- Selecting Run sandboxed from the right click menu (on steam.exe)
- Selecting the sandboxie profile
- Steam logs in with my idle account (login information saved)
- Creates idle account name map and tf2 files in steamapps
- TF2 launches, idle begins.
The bat makes it easier, so I'll be using that as well. But it's not changing anything above, just speeds it up. But I am seriously confused why mklink is required with separated steam maps while it already creates all account / tf2 folders in your main steamapps. In fact, you'll be make things cluttered by creating extra steam copies for each idle account.
So i tried your method and im running 1 idle account in text mode at 542,420 memory...Do you also get that high memory with your method I mean at that high i might as well load the game regular and just turn the graphics to low. can your method get 242,000 memory?

I don't quite see how they do that. What if you have multiple eople who need to purchase goods in the shop? The game, being free to play, would have a lot of kids using it. Kids don't typically have the cash for these things so they'd need to use a friend/family member's paypal/CC. This would likely lead to multiple accounts using the same payment method.

They seem to eventually lift the restriction.
They did it to me, and then a month or two later I tried again and it was fine.

Also, once an account makes one purchase, who cares if they restrict it's shop privilages? Don't we just need to log onto alt accounts to idle and trade items? you'd not be buying anything afterwards/

But they manage to make it so you can't make any more idle accounts (for a time), which is what people are unhappy about.
I dont get why my hl2.exe's are in textmode and i turned the graphics in game to all low but still 471,245 memory...I see some people with 240k...

newbienice99 what does ur hl2.exe's run at? Also curious if u would be willing to help me step by step get my idle farm underway, I have fully registered sandboxie and 20 premium accounts. Of course theres incentive i'd be willing to part with 1 of my 13 Earbuds for a walk thru i tried page 1 and failed. If interested contact me on AIM conan209garcia.

is there a launch option to directly join a server or IP?
is there a launch option to directly join a server or IP?
For a password protected server
+volume 0 +setinfo password "password" +connect serverip:27015 -textmode
For a regular server
+volume 0 +connect serverip:27015 -textmode
Also, I have no idea how people can idle with seven accounts and also run a copy of an actual game. I followed the instructions in the OP and have 8 gb of DDR3 1600 ram. Is there anything I can do to lower RAM comsumption of each HL2?

thankyou sosososo much
I have 4 gb of DDR3 1333 ram. I had 9 running for a good 4 hours (8 in textmode and 1 normal) all was well until my computer blue screened D:
Do you have all your idle accounts in the same directory? also maybe joining making each separate account join the same server instead of each one hosting its own. chances are you are already doing all the things I pointed out, if not I hope this helps.
I am still getting the blob error. Any fix?
EDIT: I managed to create a new steam account on my external HDD. However, it says the .gcf are too big for the sandboxie to run and it crashes when TF2 tries to update. Help?
im looking to do this, and im wondering how many idle accounts my pc can handle. Ive got a i5-2300 and a gtx550, as well as 8 GB of 1333ddr3 memory.
how many accounts do u reckon i can run?
How would I reduce the memory usage?

I'd say 10 in textmode and maybe 2 running normally in lowest settings.
Has something changed? I'm barely getting items now. This has to do with the Halloween update?

random chance is random so don't panic. also maybe steam servers are overloading.
With the update, they said they would look after the idling... But I don't know if it was about gift / costume idling or "regular" idling...
I don't want to stop idling or getting VAC Ban...
With the update, they said they would look after the idling
Mind sharing where they have said that?
random chance is random so don't panic. also maybe steam servers are overloading.
My idle accounts are running over over 4 hours now and no single item what so ever. I always get at least 1 item within those hours.

if you always get 1 item within those hours then how come you got 0 items? perhaps you've hit your item cap for the week. if not then the reason behind your problem is likely because steam is at its peak operating hours. Try idle in exactly 12 hours time or when steam goes under 3 million active users.
If that doesn't work then yeah it's random chance being super random. You can't rely on a random system 100% of the time. So keep idling. and use an online backpack checker such as tf2b.com incase you're checking your accounts in game.
