Does this work with LAN? Also does the server have to be VAC secure? I keep getting that damn verifying files shit too.
Does this work with LAN? Also does the server have to be VAC secure? The new update has made my tf2 work again :D I find that verifying tf2 barely does anything
-applaunch 440 no longer works in Steam for me. It work for anyone else?
Since last Halloween updates, the following errors occur: 1. -applaunch 440 doesn't work More exactly, doesn't start the TF2 game right away, only logs into the said steam account. You have to click the bat a second time to start the game. Weird. 2. "This server is using a newer protocol than your client" This error is easily fixed by deleting the separate client folders that are created in the common "steamapps" folder. ex. idle01 idle02 ... 3. "Too many proxies for datatable DT_BasePlayer/Item" This is a weird error that I can only link to the Halloween update. There's no fix for it yet (I've posted this error in the Steam Technical Section of the forums). The only way to make things working again is to restart the server and all the clients, as all the clients TF2 sessions are closed by the error --- I also concur that monoculus does spawn if you have at least 10 players (not 8) playing, not spectating. This can be easily observed right after the 10th client joins the server. I instanly receive the gift spawn message on my screen, and the Monoculus spawning right after, at various periods of time. I'm using two tf2 plugins, one to spawn monoculus whenever I need to get the gift that's in the underworld, and one to force all clients to choose a team side and class. The issue of not getting items is easily fixed with this method. I've noticed that _registered servers don't even show you the spectators list, although the "Status" command states that they are all spawning, haha. I just pick a random class and I have a bunch of characters beside me. I push one of them near the base spawn door, to keep it open. I quickly switch to the other side, choose a soldier and go kill the opposite enemies. Right after death, I see the drop item text spamming in the chat. Problem solved. ==== Also, here are the only valid commands that can be used with the halloween event: sv_password "" mp_allowspectators 1 mp_disable_autokick 1 mp_idlemaxtime 999999 mp_timelimit 9999999 Just to be sure you don't get your clients disconnected, since "vanilla" servers auto-kick you after a while...
if i lose internet access from my ip service do i have to reload my idlers or does it auto reconnect? i had 15 idling and some had 9 weapons but there was about 6 of them with only 1 weapon i was like wtf 1 weapon in 12 hrs of ilding?!?
How low can -heapsize go?
warfab connected current item schema is up to date with version 45454e1e. tf server identy account id not set : not logging into registered account ^what does that mean? on my friends list it warfab is green so it seems he still in game idling on settings -applaunch 440 -textmode -nosound -low -noipx -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw +map "itemtest". But does not logging into registered account mean im offline and wont recieve any items or what?.

But you can still get items that way.
So what is the deal with upgrading more than 2 accounts with the same card? Does anyone know the amount of time that you have to wait before the 'barrier' lifts and you can purchase another £4 with the same card?
Is there a way I can do this on Linux? If not, what OS should I use? I wanted to do it on XP 32-bit but XP doesn't have mklink, and Vista and 7 are heavier on resources (and I am unable to find an...*ahem*...free working 64-bit sandboxie.)
bump

They don't support it.
A way around this I've seen is to use Paypal.
Nope, doesn't work. Check the image in the second link.
Alright, but before posting my question i'd scanned back through the 10 pages to find answers and im getting very mixed responses. I mean the people that are using say over 5 different accounts, are they using f2p's to bulk up aswell as premiums? And that dude with over 250 accounts, whats the deal there? Mixed responses. People saying 'there'll be an official answer soon'. All I wanted to do was double-triple check to get an accurate answer. Thank you kindly for pointing out that people have talked about it, I already got that.

When TF2 went on sale for like 5 bucks over a free weekend event, I got a bunch seeing potential in the use of collecting refined metal as a replacement currency for actual games, so I got them on a new account each time as a long term investment of sorts. I did this by adding my alts on Steam friends and gifting TF2 to them through Steam itself. Ever since F2P, it seems they've basically cut off all possibilities of new alts since they won't allow purchases outside of your primary steam account, and you can no longer buy TF2 itself from the Steam Store. Unless they change this, I think making new alts post-F2P won't be possible.
Nope, doesn't work. Check the image in the second link.
I've added Steam funds onto different Steam accounts using my Paypal, most recent one was last week. If it doesn't work for most people then I'd wager there is a time delay of sorts.
I've added Steam funds onto different Steam accounts using my Paypal, most recent one was last week. If it doesn't work for most people then I'd wager there is a time delay of sorts.
Yeah, probably. All these conflicting reports are confusing.
Yeah that works, but they only allow purchases from Mann Co. Store on 1 account which is the problem.
I'm not exactly getting what you mean. The only way to buy something from the Mann Co. Store and upgrade to premium would be to put in the minimum Steam wallet price into that account. With Paypal you can do this for any number of newly created accounts. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by saying that new alts post-F2P won't be possible.

Basically all reports I've heard up until now (and I've heard of many others outside of FP as well) are saying all attempts including paypal to circumvent this have been blocked and all attempts to contact Steam Support about the matter asking to let their purchase go through all get the same message as previous posters in the thread have displayed, with Support basically saying they don't support this type of activity and will only allow purchases to come from one steam account, paypal or not. So like I said, all the conflicting reports are confusing. No idea what's going on. Not really my problem either, so I guess to the readers, try Paypal on an alt, but don't be surprised if your payment gets denied.
Anyone else idle for 11 hrs and only get 0-1 item?. Like 12 of my accts will have 8-9 weapons then 3-4 will have 0-1 wtf is that.

The only problem is that I did this in a too short period of time, so they suspended my alt accounts, cause they thought my Paypal acc would have been compromised. But basically, if you do it slow enough, you can buy multiple tf2 accs with paypal.
Are you talking like one a day here, or one a week?
well i created 10 to try it out in 2 days. no problems. 3 weeks later I created 10 in one day, then it became suspicious to steam support and they disabled them.
the guys who can't open a bunch of premium accounts are you paypal verified?
so one paypal account over a period of time can make all your ftp tf2 accounts premium?
what command are u using now since -applaunch 440 -textmode -nosound -low -noipx -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw +map "itemtest" doesn't seem to work...
Hi to all, and tnx all of you for your contribution and ideas how to make your own "farm", here is my 50 c. So, as i have a linux server, I were wondering, is it possible to run TF2 there (using wine), and how stable it was. So, you can run tf2 (with no, or little problems) using wine. wine also allow you to run multiple version in parralel (what sanboxie is doing) Im not going to write, howto setup wine and install, you can find plenty of that in google, or using ((wineHQ TF2 WIKI) Here are some tips for starting up your own farm: 1. Disable in-game community 2. Install Steam and TF2 using winetricks dx10, fonts.. etc 3. Use Winecfg to set hl2.exe to Windows 98, and Windows 7 to Steam.exe. This one is actually tricky. As you would probably have multiple accounts, you need a direct path to hl2.exe, but this path also includes your username, and you dont want to setup every copy of wine env to point to the correct hl2.exe. How i did it, is that the default windows version is Windows 98, and only Steam.exe gets override version of windows 7 The setup: As we are on linux, we have a good support for symlinks. So, I have created a fresh wine environment (WINEPREFIX="your path" winecfg) installed Steam, directX, .net, TF2 make sure, that everything runs, and logged in with some demo account. That will create the team-fortress folder under user. Now, we have everything that we need to start. Move steamapps to other location and replace it with symlink, altho, you can do that for tf2 too, it were crashing for me randomly durng this setup, so i just copied whole tf2 folder. I have structure like this: farm/common/steamapps farm/common/steamapps/%user%/team-fortress2 /farm/%user%/%winestuff%/Program Files/Steam/ and when i need new account, i just copy the whole %user% folder to %newuser% and steamapps/%user/ to steamapps/%newuser% Running: To run multiple version of Steam, you need to use WINEPREFIX env variable, that will tell wine, where is your windows machine is located. i launch it with: WINEPREFIX=/root/farm/%user% wine /root/farm/%user%/drive_c/Program\ Files/Steam/Steam.exe -login %user% password -applaunch 440 -textmode -nosound -sw -nopreload -novid -noshader -nocrashdialog -nopix -noshader -nojoy -dxlevel 60 +exec idle.cfg As, the running itemtest is not helping, i have a idle.cfg that is ommon for all account, and what it is doing, is connecting to the local running tf2 server. This is the second "clever" thing. You can run dedicated tf2 server on the same machine (password protected or not) and connect idling users to it. The disconnection thing is not a real issue, as if they will disconnect from the localhost, then you probably have bigger problems :D Howto run dedicated linux server, you can find here By installing (gnome-schedule) you can fine tune what accounts will be "up" and what particular time, making it semi-automatic I were managed to run 5 accounts in parallel, the issues with running more, is the video card RAM, i have an old ATI Radeon HD 2400, with more decent card (and more vram) you can get even bigger numbers. feel free to ask questions :)
I've been getting a hat every week for several weeks now :)
And that dude with over 250 accounts, whats the deal there?
I'm the dude with 253 accounts. I never used paypal. Steam only allows 2 accounts per payment method. and, All of my purchases passed Steam verification. never tried the add acccounts slowly method; i created 120 premium accounts between Sept 1 and begining of October.
