• Advanced Mann-Conomy: How to idle with multiple accounts
I've been successfully idling with 5 accounts for approximately 3 months now, but all of a sudden sandboxie has started saying "out of memory" on all but one of those accounts, no matter if i have something else running or not. I've tried reinstalling sandboxie multiple times. I tried recreating the sandboxes, but nothing helped. My hardware has not changed in any way since the last successful idle. So does anyone else have this issue, or can someone think of any way to fix this?
Yeah, Sandboxie is being a pain in the ass for me, it works whenever he feels like, just last night I was trading some items and this morning it launches me some error that a DLL is missing. Any alternative to Sandboxie?
I love this thing man. I got a salvaged crate and lots of weapons out of this.
This detailed guide is very much appreciated, however I am experiencing a bit of difficulty pertaining to logging into my alternate accounts. When I launch the batch file Steam displays a login error stating logging in to Steam failed either because the account doesn't exist or is using the wrong password. If I log in to each account manually I can log in fine, logging in via the .bat file is not working for some reason. For each account I have a login and an idle .bat file, for example the .bat files for one of my alts is named steam1idle.bat and steam1login.bat. My steam1idle.bat contains the following:
start /low C:\idle\steam1\Steam.exe -login ACCOUNTNAME MYPASSWORD -applaunch 440 -textmode -novid -nosound -noipx -nojoy -nopreload -sw -width 640 -height 480 +map itemtest
My steam1login.bat contains the following:
start /low C:\idle\steam1\Steam.exe -login ACCOUNTNAME MYPASSWORD
I also have two .bat files named idle.bat and login.bat respectively, in my idle.bat I have the following:
start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam1 "C:\batch\steam1idle.bat" start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam2 "C:\batch\steam2idle.bat" start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam3 "C:\batch\steam3idle.bat" start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam4 "C:\batch\steam4idle.bat" start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam5 "C:\batch\steam5idle.bat" start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam6 "C:\batch\steam6idle.bat"
In my login.bat I have the following:
C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam1 "C:\batch\steam1login.bat" C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam2 "C:\batch\steam2login.bat" C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam3 "C:\batch\steam3login.bat" C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam4 "C:\batch\steam4login.bat" C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam5 "C:\batch\steam5login.bat" C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:steam6 "C:\batch\steam6login.bat"
I thought I set everything up correctly, perhaps there was something I misunderstood in the directions that were given in the first post.
Thanks for the guide, now i can get my idle account going now.
I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem is with my configuration of the .bat files and why it is failing to autolog into Steam. It seems that the login .bat files are not entering the password into Steam thus Steam returns a login failed wrong account/password error.
Hey guys, I have 20 alt accounts farming metal for me now, but the crafting is taking too much time. Someone mentioned earlier in the topic about a guy with lots of accounts who does his crafting automatically. Does anyone know of any tools to help speed up crafting?
Just so everyone new knows, since I got PMs... I know absolutely nothing about the automation of crafting. I only suggested that user likely does it, because I saw discussion about automated crafting on the Steam Forums a while back (no, I don't have the link to the thread) from two users that had tons of accounts (like 100), and considering that that person has the accounts automatically commenting and all... certainly makes sense that he also does the automated crafting.

I dont know, but it sounds like hax

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/noochland/allcomments Those comments are from Dec 2009 to March 2010. That was before Mannconomy. I was running 12 accounts 24/7 then. I added those comments daily as a reference for anyone interested in the old drop system. it took me 73 days to acquire all 36 hats. Jengerer's Item Manager is the only thing i am aware of that does crafting outside of TF2? (i've never used it) http://www.jengerer.com/item_manager/ For the record, NoochLand does not use Sandboxie nor any emulation program. And, NoochLand only uses Steam, TF2 and 15 kick ass gaming PC's (and 1 crappy PC). I throw an awesome annual LAN party for my FPPE bro's; and i use the computers in the winter to heat my house. NoochLand is only a seasonal project, TF2 is something fun to run. (the cost of electricity is offset by the reduction of home heating oil not used)
You're doing it wrong.

Is this referring to me - "considering that that person has the accounts automatically commenting and all" ?
That was referring to you. I'm sorry for assuming the wrong information about you based on other owners of large idling farms. That's pretty neat that you have a massive idling farm and are doing it entirely "legit" (not even using Sandboxie).
That was referring to you. I'm sorry for assuming the wrong information about you...
no apology necessary. no offense taken.
So you have 15 accounts run for a certain amount of time, then switch to 15 different accounts when it's time, and so on and so on?
I have run 15 accounts at same time, but i like running 12. I still need to do some science about if performance falls off running too many on 1 ISP? Currently, i'm using a "once every 14 days" rotation. So, about 120 accounts per week. Each account for 14 to 15 hours. During the last 3 weeks averaged almost 19 items per account every 15 hours. The goal being having every Steam instance generating drops 24/7. Had only 120 accounts last year i ran "once every week" and averaged 10+ items per account every 10 hours. Using the drop "carry over" phenomena just means less logging on & off.
Hey there Nooch, Can I ask then how you do your crafting? With so many accounts, without automating the crafting it must surely take you hours to clear out all that stuff?
Hey there Nooch, Can I ask then how you do your crafting? I typically trade|craft 12 or 24 accounts when I have a few minutes. I log in|off each account on computer1 computer2 is for noochbot (500 backpack spaces) each account Steam trades ~19 items to noochbot (ie. from pc1 to pc2) after Steam trades are complete, I Steam trade all Mann Co. crates. (I store 250 crates on an account before designating to next) after crate moves, launch TF2 with noochbot. sort noochbot backpack by class, then Special - Custom Blueprint craft weapons to scrap; scrap to reclaim; reclaim to refined. when i'm missing items, i'll try my luck crafting random hats etc. then, when i'm pretty caught up with having 1 of every item, I start saving refined metal. and, I have accounts for storing all the extra's: vint.hats unique.hat craft.hat dup.hats refined.metal set.hats promo.hat paint.cans name.tags desc.tags c.objector duel.game I also keep a dozen of each droppable weapon. and, I kept a bunch of halloween items 2010 & 2011.

Just bought 4 more accounts. But I think I did something wrong because I'm getting this error this time around. Any more help?
I'm wondering if there is a script that will autocraft weapons and items into metal? Manually crafting a ton of items is a bit time consuming.

I'm getting the following error, when I try to start Steam from the sandboxed explorer: TRANSLATION: "The process cannot access the file because it is used by another program." I have all settings to that sandbox applied, my other real Steam is running in the meantime. Everything worked fine, but suddenly it this error came along, about two weeks ago. Any ideas? Running as administrator and compatibility mode doesn't help.
http://sim.didrole.com/
Is this tool really safe?. I'd like to try it but I need to be sure. Also, thanks to you Nooch for such informative details on your idling farm.
Is this tool really safe?. I'd like to try it but I need to be sure. Also, thanks to you Nooch for such informative details on your idling farm.
Yes, it is. I'm using it for the past months. It isn't vac ban-able either.
Ok... I've tested both tools that were mentioned in this thread. Both project creators should join and work together. But... Jangerer's Item Manager lacks the default crafting messages, a great feature to have, just to be sure you get the result you wanted in the first place. Moreover, this tool can even craft the items tagged as "The following items were overlapping other items or in invalid backpack positions" in tf2items.com Didrol's S.I.M is the best overall. It even has a "custom" menu, for easier access. It doesn't have a crafting message (at least for splitting metal, which I tested myself), although it has options to disable it. Thanks for posting these great tools. Too bad they don't work with instanced steam clients within sandboxie, because the tool scans the steam id that is logged on and refreshes the api, showing you the inventory elements and means to modify/delete/craft them. So right now, the only way to make it work is by logging each account separately then start tool, use it, close it and steam, relog on other account. Overall, less time consuming than the normal method.

Oh I just noticed that you said you are running off of your main steam folder. You will want to create another folder for your idle account and then copy steam.exe over to it. Then just run it and it will download all the files needed to run it. Then you can just mlink it nice and simple. I found a nice application called Symlinker try it out it is nice since I reinstall 24 idle accounts every week for some weird reason. [editline]21st November 2011[/editline] Anyone know any other parameters I can add to this? -applaunch 440 -32bit -textmode +exec idle.cfg -single_core -low -nosound -sw -width 640 -height 480 -noshader -nopix -novid -nopreload -replay_enable 0 +sv_password 1234 -sw +map itemtest +maxplayers 2 -heapsize 131072 Trying out -32bit been getting better performance so far.
I'm not running off my main Steam folder. It always worked like I did before. Make a new folder. Copy steam.exe to it. Run it. And you win!
What are other params that make textmode take up less resources? I've noticed that after adding -32bit, -single_core, -width and -height and basically pasting everything into the params like a monkey with a wrench, it runs at least 10 times better. Like, I can idle with all 4 accounts and play at the same time, whereas before I had to dedicate my entire PC to 3.

I've made a script so I can automate it all and run all programs needed for memory cleaning and lower system resources also to control activity on steam like exiting and restarting TF2 in a mode where I can trade. Edit: This is my parameter list too:
-applaunch 440 -32bit -textmode +exec idle.cfg -single_core -low -nosound -sw -width 640 -height 480 -noshader -nopix -novid -nopreload -replay_enable 0 +sv_password 1234 -sw +map itemtest +maxplayers 2 -heapsize 131072
