Make sure you're running everything as administrator.
I am, just checked everything, it should be working just fine. It worked yesterday, but then I tried to change the sandbox files location from C: to D: and something happened now I can't fix it :c
I've added -dxlevel 80 to the parameter list for the program but it won't be out for a fair while. Expect a release within the next 2 weeks. I'm capped at the moment since Telstra well... kinda sucks so I am switching ISP's. That's all from me I guess. See ya.

For anyone interested here's all the items I got from 10 and a half hours of idling on 6 accounts. About 10 items from each account, and lucky me, two hats!
I'd kill for that Le Party Phantom. Still coding. This is taking a while :3
i did follow the guide 100% and i am currectly running 20 idle accounts in 2 diffrenet clusters, so 10 at the time. It works very well tbh, put on 10 accounts before you go to bed and then sleep when you wake up wooop items ^_^ Thanks a ton for the guide and the help in private ^^ P.S sexy avatar :o
you could use the system function to completely eliminate the need of messy bat files. user would just input usernames and passwords.
Currently I am just making the .bat files writable from the program. I will get onto this and see if it can work. Also need to make the sandbox to be editable too.
I think people who got suspensed tried to use external programs to unlock achievements, this is a kind of exploit. Also creating multiple accounts and using a generic cdkey from a steam game just to get the easy achievements.
whats a generic cdkey
When you buy a game from steam they authorize you to use that game. When you buy a game from a store they give you the key so you can activate it to authorize the game. Probably makes no sense. But yeah that how it goes. I'm regretting the day I used a program to unlock achievements. Ruins the fun.
It seems they used humble-bundle keys to activate accounts, in other words, 1 cent each. I heard these keys even got out of stock. That's what probably triggered Steam to take action.
It seems they used humble-bundle keys to activate accounts, in other words, 1 cent each. I heard these keys even got out of stock.
so they were basically using an external program to farm humble bundle achievements which made steam gifts drop ?
It's not only about SAM (which is also cheating). By activating a key or buying a game, you can enter the promotion. There are some achievements that are for free, like just entering in the promotion, linking your account to facebook, recommending a game, joining a group, having a wishlist and others. They basically were getting something between 8-10 coals/coupons/games per account. Now multiply it by 300...
Knowing Valve everyone who farmed won't get something. Or won't be entered in the competition. Either one. Both still aren't a good enough punishment.

Does this work normal to you guys?
It just means your server is not registered on matchmaking.
Does this work normal to you guys?
All my alts do that and they work fine.
I found something just add -dxlevel 80 to your launch parameters. 100MB might not look like much, but if you could only run 4 accounts before, now you can now run 1 more !
Thank You! I totally forgot a bought that parameter and had to get rid of 2 gigs of ram that died. Also signed up to say Thank you to the OP and others who posted tip's and other helpful advice. Made my life a lot easier setting up my idle accounts. Thanks!
edit: Nevermind. Forgot to add the idle directory to File Access, in addition to the Steam directory.
any idea how to make tf2 less ram usage? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/708/pupka.png/ is this normal? -dx70 -console -textmode -noshader -novid -nosound -noipx -nojoy -nopreload -width 640 -height 480 -sw +map itemtest -low +maxplayers 2 -heapsize 131072 -replay_enable 0 max fps config would help? edit: i wondering about use virtual ram would it work with few more accs?
Join idle server - RAM usuage will drop to 180MB :)
Join idle server - RAM usuage will drop to 180MB :)
hmm good tip however that server always can turn off ;/
hmm good tip however that server always can turn off ;/
Host your own server on local PC
This is how my HL2 processes end up after 20 min of running. They fluctuate abit, but overall, they use 2.2gb memory and 30-40% processing power, inside vmware. Here's a screenie here: Once again, all clients are connected to a custom dedicated server, that runs in the same vmware image... I'm limited to running 15 clients max, because I connect them all to the dedicated server and all ports are used. Also, I didn't use any special dxlevel commands for client idle launch. I might try that in the future, but since I'm "sitting" on 8gb of RAM, it's not actually a problem for meh. Yeya, cuz Mr. Bison agrees!
i tried create custom dedicated server with source multiplayer dedicated servers but i can't connect to this. My ports would be blocked?
I can't get below 400MB per instance. Have no ideas how to lower that. I have 256GB RAM (server) but i need to laver that as much as possible. One more thing. How can I connect to one server from multiply game instances? Only one client can get in.
i tried everything and i have 3-4 of hl2.exe that goes over 500-600mb !!! makes my computer sooo slow and also is it normal for it to take over 1 hour to set up 13 accounts? cus it takes that long for me maybe even longer... i jus cant help but wonder if im doin somethin wrong but my cpu is pretty decent atleast amd quad phenom x4 460gtx 4gb ram windows 7 64bit basically i start sandboxie and click on each bat for login and idle (i login to all 13 accounts first and then click idle batch 1 at a time till they load the cmd) does that sound right? please anyone let me know!! and also the dam resource memory hog is killing me takes almost 95% of my memory out of my 4 gbs so i can barely do anything else other than idle and sleep... would it help if i created a new windows user and did it there? because that would be clear/free of games, uncessary stuff? or no?
Is there a way to make all your scraps into refined? or even reclaimed? like a bot? like the scrap banking bot? if anyone knows please let me know! its such a hassle making refines out of scraps
Host your own server on local PC
Although connecting to a server is less resources it is still better to create a listen server so that there is no chance you can lose connection to steam.
Is there a way to make all your scraps into refined? or even reclaimed? like a bot? like the scrap banking bot? if anyone knows please let me know! its such a hassle making refines out of scraps
Look around in the thread a little. Pretty sure there is some links to auto-crafting programs. Also CryCry. Idle overnight. Pretty sure most people who do idle do it and it also doesn't stop you from your everyday tasks. This is the idle.cfg that I am using right now. Still needs tweaking. It is essentially a edited version of Chris' FPS config. Pretty sure it uses less resources. I haven't been able to check since I haven't idled in a while.
echo Chris' maxframes config, designed to get you a large performance boost. echo Edited by DeltaEcho. I am keeping the edit the .bat system since some people do want to connect to servers and some don't. Until then happy idling. -Delta
hey i save it as idle.cfg and put it into the cfg folder and thats it? and i run the batch idle files? or do i run tf2 (from steam) and join/create a server and then idle? also i pretty much click on each idle batch so it runs every team fortress 2 seperately and not in 1 server basically i create up to 13 itemtest map servers should i be creating 1 server and making other idles join that 1 server?
