I made my accounts... sometime in... November I think? It was awhile ago.
Strange. I'm more than a little curious to know what Steam Support will say. Have you contacted them? Because up until now, they've never stated multiple accounts as being a bannable offense, and it has far reaching implications if their viewpoint/terms have changed. [editline]1st February 2012[/editline]
Delta_Echo Where are you.. I forgot what to do when I start up without updating first.. Delete Steam blob and update one of the accounts?.. I did, but that didn't work.
Just uninstall TF2, then reinstall. Takes a couple hours tops, and will fix your problem faster than anything else.
I'm not sure if this old chestnut will still work but start the game normally and set all the settings to the lowest possible configuration.
I'll try that, thanks Also, I'll see if I can manage to make one instance connect to others. I wish I could automate that to make it so that my config always had one account join another.

That was with maxframes config. Tried lowering settings, noticed they just kept reverting back for some reason despite no longer having the -dxlevel command anywhere. Wasted a bunch of time, but eventually found the config file commands to set everything to low. Sitting at just over 430mb/client at this point. Also, a general question to all: Any thoughts on workarounds that might allow me to delete out all the startup vids from the TF2 folders that need to be copied? I've tried everything short of a symbolic link. I'd like to delete them, since it's ~600mb disk space/account, just of worthless copies of map intro videos. That much space adds up kind of quick, especially when my hard drive is damn near full already.

If I did get in touch with them, I really wouldn't know what to say... LOL. [editline]1st February 2012[/editline]
Nah, I haven't contacted them. If I did get in touch with them, I really wouldn't know what to say... LOL. [editline]1st February 2012[/editline]
"Hi, it seems my account and the accounts of my 23 completely different friends who happen to also use the same IP address as me are banned. What's going on?"
Nah, I haven't contacted them. If I did get in touch with them, I really wouldn't know what to say... LOL. [editline]1st February 2012[/editline]
hahah, might as well just be honest with them. :P I've got about 6 times as many accounts as you had, created within the same time frame.. Nooch has 300+. Valve hasn't had any issue with us yet, and Nooch has been very public about his vast idle farm. I mean...you've got nothing to lose, and it would satisfy any curiosity you might have about why you got banned and we haven't. :eng101:
so that's like 20 accounts ?
About that, maybe 22.
Have you tried just deleting most Steam files and letting them redownload? Or just straight uninstalling/reinstalling Steam? That would be my approach to the problem, and it's already been recommended above as well.
Aalllllrighteeeeethen. I deleted Steam and redownloaded TF2. I then had to run each TF2 account 1 time (I use Steam guard and reinstalling Steam makes me type in the code to play the game). After about 4 and a half hours... success! Now everything seems normal again. Thanks a lot buddy!
Ugh, Valve blocked my PayPal for use on new accounts. Sad day :suicide:
Ugh, Valve blocked my PayPal for use on new accounts. Sad day :suicide:
wait a month, it'll be fine then
so that's like 20 accounts ?
Nope 8 accounts on which i hadn't idled for 2 weeks.
so when did you guys aquire all these accounts? when tf2 was on sale or after it went f2p?
wait a month, it'll be fine then
i thought it was just a maximum of 2 steam accounts per paypal account? [editline]5th February 2012[/editline]
after it went f2p. it's 5€ each to unlock premium but you can sell the keys for 1,7$ each fuck you valve and your €=$ seriously [editline]3rd February 2012[/editline] I also found a faster way to update all accounts. First update one account, don't run any other steam instances at that time. then copy AppUpdateStats.blob from the account you just updated, to all other account directories. You could also use a bat file to do that for you.
start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:[box1 name] [steam1 install dir] -login [pass] pause copy C:\[steam1 install dir]\appupdatestats.blob C:\[steam2 install dir]\appupdatestats.blob -Y ... copy paste for all users

I copied the file over to my other directories, and when I launch the idling .bat files my accounts still update, not sure what I'm doing wrong
Yup, that's right
so when did you guys aquire all these accounts? when tf2 was on sale or after it went f2p?
I will hazard a guess and say after it went F2P. Why would they want all those accounts when it was not F2P?
so when did you guys aquire all these accounts? when tf2 was on sale or after it went f2p?
Tf2 went on sale for a $2.50 and $1 at two times. Now I just buy another account when I feel like buying something from the store.
i thought it was just a maximum of 2 steam accounts per paypal account? [editline]5th February 2012[/editline]
a maximum of 2 steam accounts every 31 days. I get my next 2 premium accounts on the 27/28th for example because I premiumed my last 2 accounts on the 27th of Jan. hope this clears things.
What the.. ok I reinstalled and tried again.. still validating... The shit.
Error, try as I did. Make a copy of your steam somewhere. Use that steam to install and update tf2 to fullest. Then copy the gcf files from that said steam folder to the shared steamapps... Start all your idle clients. The only possible update window you'll get is the steam client update, no TF2 validation...
The idling is still working? Ive been idling for hours and didnt get any drop (i didnt idled or played for months, so my drop rate is not the problem) What launch parameters are you guys using lately?
Foxfoxfox, I partially have the same problem too. I got 12 idle accounts. For some reason, 3 of them are not getting drops. I don't know why this happens. Any ideas? Anyone?
The idling is still working? Ive been idling for hours and didnt get any drop (i didnt idled or played for months, so my drop rate is not the problem) What launch parameters are you guys using lately?
The patch today seems to have broken the item servers, as the item schema is failing to update for me across all accounts. Best off just not running TF2 till they get it fixed. Well, at least for idling. I've been playing the hell out of it. :P
Item servers were broken yesterday, none of my idle accounts were getting drops. Today seems to be working fine though.
Item servers were broken yesterday, none of my idle accounts were getting drops. Today seems to be working fine though.
Are you still showing the update queued message?
So I want to make some accounts first and go premium after I got enough items on the accounts to pay for them. What do I have to look out for? Use a different email for each one? Change the ip for each one? Not make it obvious that it's an idle account? And If I get enough stuff: will steam accept the same paypal for all accounts? I want to make 10.
hello i use that idle method with sandboxie some month and it works great till yesterday. now if i want start more than 1 steam acc with sandboxie i have this error message:
Steam.exe (main exception): Cannot open blob archive file: CMultiFieldBlob(mem-mapped file): Failed to open existing file, Win32 Error 32 "Der Prozess kann nicht auf die Datei zugreifen, da sie von einem anderen Prozess verwendet wird."
that clientregistry.blob i have delete and have try some other things, but it doesnt work :( sorry i m german, my english is not the best. now i have 2 more options to try, the first i reinstall sandboxie, the second i reinstall steam( over 120gb ... ) or did any one have an idea ? i have the full version of sandboxie and have idle over 4 month with 20idler, it works till yesterday great
You need to use separate steam directories for each account, you can still symlink the steam apps folder though.
You need to use separate steam directories for each account, you can still symlink the steam apps folder though.
oh shit wont I need like 10gb free space per account then? can you explain the symlink thing to me please?
