You need to use separate steam directories for each account, you can still symlink the steam apps folder though.
but last week it works with 1 steam folder, the last month i have idle 10 accounts at the same time with the same settings, i have nothing changed, from 1 day to another day i cant use more acc at the same time now, but last week it works. you know what i mean ?
oh shit wont I need like 10gb free space per account then? can you explain the symlink thing to me please?
The symilink is explained in the original post.
Odd... I had 13 idle accounts set up and all working fine, then this week, I try to launch them, and half (at random, but always the same accounts) fail with the error: ERROR: Steam.exe (main exception): To run Steam, you must first connect to the Internet And dont load any further. The other half open up steam and try to launch tf2, but get stuck verifying files/says the game is currently unavaliable. Sandboxie comes up with an error saying that it stopped steam from copying large files over to the sandbox. One manages to open tf2, but has no steam friends connection. I'll try to fix it (delete everything/try again...), but help would be appreciated. On a side note, my internet connection seems to be acting up: some pages take longer to load, and some refuse to load on the first try, with an error saying that firefox could not load the page. Refreshing usually fixes it/the page loads the second time, but it is still odd. ISP problems? Thanks again.
Do I have to start in testmode to use Sandboxie?.. I'm fine with it but just hate the test mode watermark. An alternative to this is.. can I sign an unsigned driver. It's Sandboxie. [editline]12th February 2012[/editline] and all of the sudden everything works.. ha.
Wait no. nevermind.. dang it.
Error, try as I did. Make a copy of your steam somewhere. Use that steam to install and update tf2 to fullest. Then copy the gcf files from that said steam folder to the shared steamapps... Start all your idle clients. The only possible update window you'll get is the steam client update, no TF2 validation...
Does not work. I have Tf2 installed on my desktop so I copied those gcfs onto this laptop and still, validating files. I reinstall? or what other methods?
What the fuck are you doing.
I think he's trying to use pirated sandboxie.
works fine for my bro, he runs more than one account on a pirated sandboxxie.
Just paused from BF3 to write this... Dunno what's bad in using a pirated version. It's not like you'll actually fork up the cash. Get real. I'm using the x64 version of Sandboxie, and yes, you need to read the .nfo file and install sandboxie with the correct steps. Your windows version will have a small 'testmode' text on the lower right corner, but that's it. No concern here. P.S. And don't tell me you all have real Windows licences. Who you kiddin'? :)
Now this.. this is what I like to see. What a beaut. Sweeet. Got a Doctor's Sack, Jumper's Jeepcamp, and a Noh Mercy. I also have a theory why some accounts aren't getting drops. Those backpacks are full. Here's my proof: http://urli.st/qxJw
I just got my first hat, a shitty master yellow belt. But nonetheless, 1st hat. Should I get my hopes up on a #30 crate? I've been waiting for one for ages. No drop on 20 accounts.
according to my research, the 32bit version works just fine. however it can't be installed on 64 bit machines. the 64bit version needs testsigning mode enabled for the crack to work.
works perfect for me. ( 64bit cracked. )
You won't banned for warez/leaks unless: • You provide links • You ask for links • You hint at where to download • You openly declare or brag about it
psure we haven't broken any of that.
uh, no fucking shit sherlock ?
No. Before I could overfill my backpack and will still get drops.
No. Before I could overfill my backpack and will still get drops.
yeah i overfilled the backpack on my main account, it just forces you to delete enough items that the new ones will fit - even if you've traded away some of the excess in the meantime. this is why errorproxye (#2) has 307/300 items.
Yeah.. so.. we can't overflow anymore.. darn.
It takes time. and I do every so often. Like once every 2 months or so.
I think I've found a solution to my problem. Sandboxie creates some sandboxed folders which it copies files to, to run them out of (in this case, the main steam files). These persist even when sandboxie is removed, which explains why un/reinstalling SB didn't help. I deleted all of those folders, and let SB recreate them the next time it was run (takes a little while), and with the sandboxes set up the same as before, everything worked fine. The individaul tf2 accounts had to update some files, but they are all working fine now. As far as I can tell, SOMETHING got messed up in those sandboxed files, preventing it from working right. More details than that, I don't know. Though, I now suspect that it may have been the cause of some earlier problems I was having. Well, happy idling everyone :D
M.A.I.D. works great with rabbish's method. The only problem is that when I try to use the "Idle Group #1" button, it tries to launch all of the idle accounts too quickly which ends in a lot of steam blob messages. Hopefully the maker of M.A.I.D. can add a way for the user to manually delay the next idle account being launched by a certain amount? For me, a delay of about 30 seconds between each idle accnt launching would be great.
Actually, is there a new MAID version coming along? I have found this program very useful. Is this thread the only place where we can get updates on MAID?
that happens because you're only using 1 steam.exe you have to make a seperate copy of steam folder for each account [editline]16th February 2012[/editline] i just do it every week.
How many accounts do you have? I have 8 and that takes me like at least 2 hours to craft, and trade all metal to one account. Well.. depending on the last time I did it. Hm.. every weeks seems to be a waste of time though.
I have 8 and that takes me like at least 2 hours to craft, and trade all metal to one account.
I have 20 accounts and I can get the job done in 2-3 hours, including trading. My tip: get one of the tf2 item managers that were linked in this thread, and put it to use. If you're using sandboxie, here's what you need to do: a) start your account in normal mode, using a .bat that contains: C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:BOXNAME "H:\batch\ACCOUNTLOGIN.bat" b) load up your favorite tf2 item manager, with a .bat that contains this: start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:BOXNAME "H:\Tools\item_manager.exe" Make sure the steam account and the tool load up in the same sandbox, not a different one, because the tool won't be able to load up your inventory via steam api query. All set, just craft your metal, and when you're done, send stuff on main or whatever. Easy? Indeed...
This thing is not working, everytime I'm login to steam it tells me I have not enough disk space to run this game, any help?
How do i fix this bug: when i try to trade sandboxed steam often hangs for too much time and trade gets expired. I used to trade via in-game trade but now they disabled that feature. Steam trade is too damn unstable. Now my main account doesn't get trading page while alt does. [editline]17th February 2012[/editline]
This thing is not working, everytime I'm login to steam it tells me I have not enough disk space to run this game, any help?
GCF problem. Look into it, maybe you didn't copy steam folder?
I have 8 and that takes me like at least 2 hours to craft, and trade all metal to one account.
I have 6 and it takes me 10 minutes to trade it all to my main then craft it. I just trade the items to my main one at a time, then close that account's Steam as I go.
[editline]17th February 2012[/editline] GCF problem. Look into it, maybe you didn't copy steam folder?
I think I found the problem, I can't access the steamapps folder via the shortcuts on each idle account folder, it says that it cannot find the directory. I double checked every time, the direction IS correct and yes, I run the cmd as admin. Help?
Hello. Can somebody help me with servers issue? http://i43.tinypic.com/r05v6h.png What is wrong?
Nothing is wrong.
I think I found the problem, I can't access the steamapps folder via the shortcuts on each idle account folder, it says that it cannot find the directory. I double checked every time, the direction IS correct and yes, I run the cmd as admin. Help?
Did you use Shortcuts? or Symlinks\Junctions? Also, make sure that sandboxed steam has access to your original steamapps directory. If you have a steamapps, lets say in X:\Steam\steamapps and you symlinked it to Y:\SteamIdle\steamapps then you must grant Full Access to both of these directories in sandboxie. Like that: http://gyazo.com/65f68914bdc6bc5c5ee60b65b3ee7690 also applies to NTFS file permissions.
